Yes, if you upgrade during gestation time is reset, but as you upgrade it gets shorter. The free one was almost certainly the "hopeless" one, the one for Tokens is usually ok to really good.

If you are on old market then you can find them on the first day on new season plus every day after the daily reset...They will be very expensive and will have weird team names...
