If you renew during the season that it expires then you get a 3 year contract. If you renew in the first day(s) of the new season, it's only a 2 year contract... that's what I've been experiencing...

Like it is now, renewing a player's contract is as if buying the player again from the market. Maybe this is why many users sell their players after 2 seasons and buy other players.
