I've only ever played 4-4-2 once, but didn't like it neither did my players. I see you've changed your avatar, did you just fancy a change as well LOL

I think he means 4-3N-1-2 still playing through the middle to counter him playing the flanks. I have tried this & won but only by 1 goal each time so be careful.

4-3-1-2 or 4-3W-2N-1 works for me against 4-4-2. You can always go with 4-4-2 ND or 4-3-3
