    Conventionally, you would choose the first way. It's more balanced as well to have them symmetrically positioned. I only use the middle spot if I have 1 or 3 strikers on the field.

    Yeah I use it like that too, it is just that I have seen lots of formations with 2 strikers positioned like the second way

    The only time I would consider using it the second way, is if their defence was not symmetrical.
