A Final Mission
Matias Madrid was the toast of Lion's Way after he steered Go Leo into the Champions' League final.
The goalscoring winger scored a brace in a 2-1 win over Pong FC which meant that Go Leo go through on away goals with the aggregate tied at 4-4. Madrid had scored the all important second goal late in the first leg to keep the tie alive.
Things did not start on a good note for the home side when Pong FC took a 12th minute lead and a 4-2 advantage on aggregate. However, after Madrid dispatched a curling freekick in the 38th minute to tie the match, Go Leo took control of the tie.
After the break, Madrid was brought down in the box after making his way past a couple of defenders. The Argentian picked himself up and slotted home the penalty. 2-1 on the night and 4-4 on aggregate. The results shoud have gone beyond doubt but for some spectacular stops by the visiting goalkeeper.
At the final whistle, Lion's Way erupted to celebrate Go Leo's first appearance in a Champions' League final.
Go Leo however will not be able to contest a double this season after they slipped four points behind in the league with a 3-1 lost to Agon FC yesterday. With two matches remaining, the chances of Agon dropping points are slim and Go Leo will most likely have to settle for second.
However, with Champions' League glory in the horizons, no one will dare say that this was a dissapointing season.

Lion's la Bamba to victory
Go Leo lifted the Champions League trophy today for the first time, scoring three times in the first half to beat Addy FC 3-1 in the final. Despite being tied 1-1 at one point, in reality, it was a procession-like final.
Addy was never really in the match and it was one way traffic the moment Matias Bamba, restored to the starting eleven for the final, connected with a Matias Madrid corner in the tenth minute. Go Leo then proceeded to break down Addy with two more goals after conceding an equalizer.
Jamie Campell restored their lead with a screamer in the 20th minute and Tim van Rooijen polished off the win with a header ten minutes later.
Addy simply never showed up for the final and mustered only 45% of the possesion and although they had six shots on target, none were able to worry Go Leo.
The Boss opted to give starts to Bamba and Campbell, two players who have been dropped in recent matches while the number one jersey was given to Eladio de Spiegeleer. Previous first choice Ayila Fortunate paid the price for recent blunders in high-profile matches.
While Bamba was named as Man of the Match, star winger and captain Madrid was the catalyst for the win and provided two assist to help his club add the Champions' League title to their trophy cabinet.
The Boss claims that Madrid deserves all the plaudits, "Matias has been sensational since he came to the club. I think it is appropriate that he was the one who delivered the Champions' League to us."
"He saved us in the semifinals and got us here. This is his stage."

End of Season Review - Season 9
It was a bitter sweet season 9 for Go Leo but it can be called a successful one although they fell short of making history. Not that they did not.
By lifting the Champions' League title for the first time, Go Leo confirmed their pedigree in a select group of champions. Indeed, having almost narrowly exited the competition at the semifinals stage, the club did not waste the opportunity given to them and went on to lift the title that have eluded them.
It was fitting that club Captain Matias Madrid was the one that first saved them in the semifinals and starred in the final. Joy was everyone's as Madrid lifted the trophy after a procession final.
The triumph in the competition could have been sweeter for them had they wrapped up the league title after leading for most of the season. But they suffered a momentary blip in the final stretch and settled for second spot.
Madrid picked up the Player of the Season award for the third year running. The Argentinian finished the season with 13 league goals and 17 assists.
Defender Cole Case was awarded The Young Player of the Season, his second, finishing well above runners-up MacField Dinamo. Case have cemented a spot in the heart of defence and looks to have matured last season.

Strength in defence
Go Leo today announced the arrival of two new players for the upcoming season - Mexican defender Gustavo Ayala, who plays as a leftback and Serbian goalkeeper Miroslav Mladenovic. Both players have been bought for the sum of $35M.
In unveiling the signing, the Boss reiterated that defence has been their priority now for several seasons. Indeed, they have lost out on the league title last season primarily due to conceding too many goals. Their goal against of 30 last season was their worst in history.
"I have said it before and will say it again - you can't win titles if you let in sloppy goals. We have done that too many times last season."
Ayala will slot in a four man defence and is expected to join Marshall Law, Aqeel Tuma and Cole Case as first choice defenders.
Go Leo will not be spending much money or tokens this season and the Boss have opted to stick with the current setup.
The Lions will kick-off their league today having already secured progress into the next round of the Cup competition on a 6-3 aggregate.
