Leicester Tigers though to second round of the cup

Tigers played in an away, home first round match up. The first leg was draw 1-1 which the Tigers squad seemed rather happy about. At home, Tigers came out victors with a 1-0 victory. The Leicester lads played against a very evenly matched squad which was reflected in the scoreline as shown. The goal scorer in the away leg was Carreno and in the home leg it was striker Wongjinda to secure a second round place.

Tigers face a tough tough league battle this season with many teams far below the rating but also 4 or 5 above, 1 or 2 above by far (6). Terrance said 'Last year the league got harder, now its stepped up another couple of notches. Its going to be hard to compete, but we will try our almighty best. Obviously our main target is to win every competition, but realistically, we are targeting a top 3 spot, with top 4 being an absolute minimum. For the champions league, our aim is to get out of the group as we have never failed to do that before, and get to at least the quarter finals. With the cup, we want to beat our record of getting to a quarter final and with a tough draw, it seems like its going to be a good challenge, but a good challenge is good.'

In the champions league group, Tigers are not in fully unfirmilar ground. They face league champions and title rivals Hisingen who proved to be difficult last year with a draw and a lose against them. Tigers will be looking to put that record straight to finish top of the group.

    Tigers sell club legend Ay

The Tigers central defender for about 2/3 seasons, Serkan Ay has been sold by the club for a secret figure. He played 143 games scoring 14 goals. He was always highly rated and a guy who great a good bond with Ozgoz. He is only the 2nd player in the Tigers 100 club to leave the club. "Ultimately, it was my decision to let Serkan go (says Terrance), we had to free up space in the squad to sign a new goal keeper and Serkan, now on 3 stars had to take the bullet. He's a great player with a good reputation, at only 25, I'm sure hell go into another teams 100 club.

    Tigers sign goal keeper

Team manager lived up to his speech at the end of season awards. He has signed a highly rated 6 star goal keeper to take over the great Captain cook. Jorge Alonso, whose from Spain, is 26 years old who has plenty of experience with a special ability. He was negotiated for £3.5 million and 3 tokens. With a man of the match on debut in the 2nd leg of the cup and a 9 rating, he's sure to live up to the quality of Cook.

A steady first week of the season for the Tigers

Being placed in a tough league, Leicester Tigers are placed in 7th with 7 points after playing teams placed in 1st, 3rd, 4th, 8th and 14th. Tigers draw against now 8th place, which is the only draw to have taken place in the league so far, to get things underway. In round 2 Tigers hosted the now 3rd, Barclays FC and lost narrowly 0-1. Tigers then travelled to Noah FC (now 14th) and won easily 0-8. League leaders were next to visit Welford Road and Tigers suffered another defeat 1-2 but it was close and Tigers were not far away from winning. And today in round 5, Tigers played Rizky Yumu FC who at the start of the round were 4th, and beat them 0-2 away from home.

The champions league has also thrown up some surprises too, with all 4 teams on 3 points and 0 goal difference, its all to play for. Tigers picked up their 3 points on the road, 1-2, but lost to Hisingen (last years league title rivals) 0-1 at Welford Road. Tigers play Pufc Utd tonight where the men in green and red are strong favourites.

In the cup, Tigers made it though to round 3 after playing an evenly matched team from Australia. Tigers won the home leg 1-0 and then travelled all the way to Australia for just a goalless draw. This, however was enough to put them though where they will meet Tom FC. Tom FC have a rating of 34.1 (Tigers rating = 35.0) so it should be close. The home leg will be the 2nd leg.

Team manager says "Its been good, apart from the league its been good. Even in the league we have been very close to doing some damage against clubs that were positioned in the top 4. We've played some really strong teams and with a league with 7 strong teams and 7 weak teams it can only be an adavtange because in the 2nd half of the 2nd leg agaisnt teams we will be playing the weaker teams giving us an advantage for the run in. Hinsingen in the champions league, well i thought this was gunna be the 3rd time lucky but nope, we've played them 3 times and lost twice, drawing the other. Its annoying that we can't beat them, but we will give them a big crack in round 6 and do all we can to put the record right. The cup, Im also a fan of that at the moment, we are scraping results like in the other competition but we are doing enough and coming out on the right side of the result. We will continue to push and do all it takes to make the top 4, keep going in the cup and to top the group"

    Tigers sign AMC star

With Lemke looking like he's past his best, Tigers manager dabbled into the transfer market to look for the Tigers specially strong position and he has found one. Gurbuzerol has taken over the Lemke position and hopes to do just as well as Lemke has done for the last 4 seasons. He is 20 years old, with a market value of £6.1 million and Tigers purchased him for around about £4.5 million. He scored on his debut. Attacking coach said "we pride ourselves with the AMC position, its downright one that we target and is what makes this club unique. We are doing all we can to make him just as good as Lemke, perhaps even better. Lemke is defiantly not leaving the club anytime soon, he will be the main midfield substitution as he can play AMC, MC and AML. As the main sub, I can tell you he's motivated as ever to add to his 130+ goal tally" Because of this addition to the squad, replacement AMC/ST has had to leave the club to make the numbers add up correctly. Topayan played 58 matches, starting 22 of those and scored 9 goals. We wish him well for the future.

The Tigers improve as the season goes on...

In round 6 of the league, Tigers put in a full blown display of goals against the club lying in 13th place with a pleasing 9-0 win for the home crowd. Another goal fest game in round 7 with an awesome 0-10 victory against a team placed in 11th. This began crawling the boys up to 5th and edging closer towards the top 4 after a sticky start against some top quality teams. Tigers face 10th placed Impact FC tonight, before hosting 3rd place under the welford road lights tomorrow night in what will prove to be a crunch game. Tigers currently, at the time of writing, lie in 7th place on 13 points with 1 game in hand over 13 league teams. 6th place have 14 points, 5th place have 15 points 3rd and 4th have 18 points with 2nd having 19 points. The league leaders are well out in front with 24 points.

In the cup, Tigers thrash, what was expected to be a close game, Tom FC, 0-4 and 3-0 to put Tigers though with a 7-0 aggregate lead. Tigers will face Hapoel Ber Sheva in the last 16, the home leg will be the 1st leg. The opponents are ranked at 35.1, the exact same as the Leicester men.

And now for the thrilling but tense and shocking champions league. All teams in the group have 6 points and its looking like its going down to the wire. With Pufc hurting Tigers with a 0-2 victory at Welford road, the boys hunted them down in the 2nd of the back to back legs with another 0-2 scoreline this time damaging Pufc utd run and taking full credit. It all comes down to 2 games.

Manager said "We're edging back in the league and are now almost where we want to be, and the next few days, as long as we play well, should put us exactly where we want to be. The cup is splended, we put a good side out of the competition and have made it into the last 16, something we have only failed to do so once here in 5 seasons and that just shows what a great record the shirt has. In the champions league, well that away victory was exactly what I want my club to be doing. They're the victories that only champions and great classic teams can do. To loose 0-2 at home and have to play the same team again the next round, baring in mind if we had lost we pretty much would have been out, to go and win 0-2 was the greatest win this club has ever had. That win is exactly what Leicester Tigers are about and we hope to do more of that. We stand for pride, passion and perseverance, that win shown all of the p's. I couldn't congratulate the player enough. And I'll say thank you to the fans because when we got back home at about 3am, the stadium was about half full of fans shouting TIGERS. That gave all the members of the club a special boost. The permutations to get into the next round might get a little complicated, but for me, 2 wins and we are though most likely as group winners and those 2 wins are all we are thinking about right now.

    In other news

A special well done to Sven Buhler who at the minute is playing out of his skin whilst in for injury cover. Carreno will not find it easy to win the ML shirt back.

The board of fame and records has now been updated, with Ferreria added to the 100 club, Buhler and Nemeth added to the 50 goal club, Buhler added to the Silver Hall of fame and then the 100 club newbie added to the Bronze Hall of Fame.

Magical period for the Leicester Tigers

All apart from the champions, the Tigers have been firing on all cylinders since the last update. First the bad news, don't worry theres not much of it! With the final 2 games of the champions league, Tigers were level with all teams in the group. The first game, Tigers played shockingly against Marco, losing yet another home champions league match, the 3rd of the season. Then Leicester had to travel to Hisingen, who got beat in round 5 against PUFC. Considering the boys don't have a good record against this team, they did fairly well. A 1-1 draw came about which meant the Tigers were out at the group stages for the first time ever, finishing bottom of the group as the other match in round 6 also ended in a 1-1 draw.

On to the cup, Tigers played a strong team in the last 16 round. Terrance's men made a positive start in the first leg beating opponents 2-1 despite being 0-1 down 79 mins into the game. That boosted confidence in the team from Welford Road and shown exactly what the coach wanted. New-ish comer Gurbuzerol scored both the goals. In the 2nd leg, Tigers decided to go defensive and it was certainly a strong defensive display. With many shots on target and chances in the green red and white half, the defence stood strong finishing the game level 0-0 to put the Tigers into the quarter finals for the 2nd season in a row.Leicester faced Gino (37.1) (Tigers rating 35.5) in the quarter finals. The first leg at home was a very tense affair with plenty of mistakes from both sides but leicester eventually scrapped it out to win 2-1. This sets up a battle tomrrow afternoon to see if the boys can make it though to the first ever cup semi final in the clubs history. Tigers went on to draw the away leg 1-1 to put them though to a semi final. Everyone at the club is really proud and never expected this in the cup. Tigers never quit but they have lost the first leg away from home 2-0 to record their first loss since losing against Marco in the 5th round of the champions league.

In the really really tight and tense league, Leicester are producing some magic. In round 9, Tigers faced a good drilled side called Athletico Madrid, a top 4 team. Despite looking like losing, the boys shown great sprit and managed to pull off a draw 2-2 baring in mind they had at least 10 extra fans. This dropped us one place in the league. After this, somehow things seemed to get easier, with a 0-2 win against rising 9th place, 9-0 win over 12th place, 0-4 win over a classy 9th place giving Tigers a 5th place position going into games where anyone could win. Tigers played league leaders at the time and beat them 4-0, with a dominant display of football. That is exactly what the crowd want to see. At the half way stage in the league,Tigers were in 4th place, level on points with 5th and 6th. 4 points away from 1st place, 2 from 2nd and 1 from 3rd. Round 14 saw Tigers take on 5th place, Marcelamariel who they drew to in the first round away from home. This time however tigers sneaked it, 2-1 which was the start of 3 loses on the spin for Marcelamariel. An on fire Leicester team travelled to title rivals Barclays and played the best a Tigers team has ever played. Beating 2nd place 0-4 away from home! Totally unexpected. The next round saw a 10-0 win against the team in 13th. The boys in green and red now had to travel to league leaders. Leicester scored in the first minute, turned up the defensive system and had another legendary victory, 0-1. This pushing Tigers up the ladder! Meanwhile, Barclays lost again at home so the Welford road men were at the top of the table. A banana skin was avoided when an in form 6th place visited Leicester. The home side winning 3-0. Round 19 saw tigers travel to bottom place and secure an 0-8 victory. With some other close battles at the top of the table, Leicester are 3 points clear at the top on 47 points. 2nd have 44, 3rd 43, 4th 43, 5th 42. Tigers in a comfortable position but have too many tough games to come yet before looking up at a 3rd league title.

    Goodbye Nemeth

Leicester Tigers had to say cheerio to a legend of the club, the striker that is Marko Nemeth at the age of 22. He has been at the club since season 1, and has played 152 games, starting 122 and scoring 50 goals. Manager said "a hate to get rid of legends from the club but unfortunately we just didnt have room with the new striker signing we have made. At the age of 22, he has the chance to score many more goals and play many more games. I wish him well for the future, he's a great lad.

    Hello Bibba

leicester tigers welcomed Carlos Bibba to the squad, a player who is 18 years of age, £6.2 million value and a 42 rating. Tigers purchased him for £4.75 million and are looking for him to add strength to the already strong striker lineup at Welford Road.

Leicester Tigers triumphant in the league for the 3rd time!

Leicester Tigers have defyied the odds and won the League level 5, winning their 3rd league title in 5 seasons! This year was by far the toughest league the boys have ever took part in, with 4 or 5 teams that were capable of winning the league. After the last update, Tigers played round 20 at home to 11th place and managed to get the 3 points required to keep the winning moment going at the top of the table. The boys won 4-0. Round 21 saw the Tigers travel to a banana skin of a match against 10th place. A superb display of football saw the Welford Road men win 1-8. Round 22 is where the league got a whole lot tighter. Tigers were the visitors to title rivals, 2nd place Atletico Madrid. With 20 special fans in attendance for the home side, and a poor defensive display saw Tigers take a huge lose 5-1. This was quite possibly Leicester record defeat, especially in the league. In league context, Tigers were now level with 2nd and with 3rd place only 2 points behind, it was obviously about getting the goal difference up swell as trying to win these tough games. Meanwhile, in the cup, on the same day, Tigers beat the opponents 3-1 on Welford Road turf. However due to the way goal rule, the 3-3 aggregate scoreline wasn't in the favour of Tigers which sent them finishing just short of the final but the men were immensely proud of themselves winning their first ever cup trophy.

All of the attention was now on the league, going into round 23 against the inform 7th place who had won the last 5 games. Leicester looked lacking in confidence and understandably so but still managed to pull of an outstanding 4-0. However, Atletico madrid had closed the goal difference gap to just 6 goals with a 3-8 away victory. The men in green and red faced an away match to 12 place and won 0-7, this time opening the goal difference gap as Athetico Madrid only won 0-2 against the same team Tigers played the day before. Tigers then had to battle their nerve against 9th place at home, they won 3-0 but 2nd place won 6-0 3rd place also still 2 points behind ready to pick up the pieces if something went wrong.

Going into todays final round, Tigers had the toughest game against 4th place who are fighting to get in the Champions league. Barclays (3rd) had the easy game at home against the team at the bottom. Meanwhile, 2nd place played the team who Tigers played yesterday. Early in the morning, the news broke that a shock result had happened. 2nd place had lost 3-1 meaning all Tigers needed was a draw adjacent 4th place Umit FC. This, obviously unless Barclays won by 34 goals to undo the goal difference. Tigers got that draw away from home they needed to get 1-1. This wasn't enough for Umit to make the champions league as they lost out on goal difference and finished 5th. Barclays didnt manage the 34 goals despite scoring 3 goals in the first 5 mins to worry Leicester Tigers. Their 11-0 victory, meant that it was safe for the Leicester Tigers to be awarded with a well earnt league trophy. Final Standings

    Tigers 63 (+99)
    Barcalys 63 (+76)
    Atletico Madrid 62 (+92)
    Dun FC 57 (+85)
    Umit FC 57 (+81)
    Marcelemariel FC 51(+85)

    What a fantastic League season!
