Yeah I'm L20 and the same thing happens around my server as well as the OP, yes there are many teams that have "Tanked" which is delibrately missed out on promotion to have another go at winning the title the following season, but there are also teams that miss out because the active number of teams per league is higher than 7, meaning that some do miss out just because they had a poor season. I've noticed this kind of thing from around L15+, not sure what its like around on my server now on the levels that are in the lower to mid teens, but I'd imagine it still happens.

I guess tanking is not too bad of a strategy if you are not able to farm any tokens and are a non-T buyer because at the end of the day, you don't exactly receive any sort of penalty for not promoting, you only end up a little further away from the servers top level and don't play in the next seasons CL that is it really.

I don't understand the jumping: if you promote with luck, you'll make even more money by staying a season in a higher league.
But I don't understand you neither. Why is there a complaint here ? Try your best and if the seven jumpers take the 7 first places, then you'll stay in this league without being a jumper. But if you manage your way up, then it will be a great success.
I think that you are monomaniac about gaining each league each season and you are about to think like those jumpers you despite: 'If I want to gain my league, i'll have to stay in this league this season and become a jumper'.

TLDR;
If you don't want to be like the 7 guys you are referring to, then you have to struggle to make you way up.

Because they have 5*/6* player in their squad in your league at the beginning of the season and there are not any trophies besides the club comparison between your team and their team, even teams that have finished 5th,6th or 7th would have the plaque for 5th,6th or 7th in the last seasons trophies won.

Im tanking, jumping or what ever you want to call it this season. Ive stopped investing money into this game a few seasons ago so its either get promoted and be mediocre or tank, save up skill points and have a good run at it next season, ive never seen anything wrong with it. Its actually been a 2 season plan though, every player i bought last season and this has been 18 years old, some better than others but all pretty fast trainers, though no fast enough to be more than average if im promoted. Its not just about staying in a level to win the league next year but also to catch up on my construction, try max everything for when i do get promoted. It should also hopefully mean that my transfer list gets better as ill have 2 leagues above me to buy from (im currently top of my server)

End of the day nordeus are ruthless when it comes to getting money from us, why is it frowned upon to be ruthless when trying to save it???

Cheers mate, end of the day anyone can tank a season where as not everyone can afford to plow cash into this game (or like me they can but dont want to). I reckon tanking for 1 season will give me 2 or 3 seasons with a GOOD team, so why not???

I agree "jumping" "bunkering" or whatever, is a good money saving strategy. And of cause everyone could/(and maybe should) take advantage of it if they are not prepered to spend 10-20£ a season. I just liked to create a debate regarding the subject.

The crux of the matter is that in my league (level 17) I am competting with 7 jumpers. And I asked what I should do? Compete or just jump.

I thought this was what tanking was, anyway I believe it is a personal choice and lots for forum members have decided to do it coz of the way things are being run this season, I have considered it as my TL has been rubbish for 3 seasons now and have lost that side of the game but have decided to continue as I like the challenge of going for titles and cups.

But when you tank a season, your players all age a year and slow down in their skill gains. So when in the following season you do (hopefully) win promotion, you're already on the back foot. No?
