Training young players

I purchased Rodriguez on day 1 of season 3 as a 20 year old 5* player. Spent around 3M for him (him and a 2M 5* ST killed my budget that day). I trained him to 6* that season. I am now on season 8 and he is still on my roster as a 4* 25 year old and his value is now 6M. I've renewed his contract twice (for about 1.065M). If I can get him back to 5*, he will be with me again next season (57 more skill points needed). If not...well, we will see what is on the market.
