League Round 26 - End of Another Season
July Fourth 4-0 KARAKARTAL
Ronnie O'Sullivan Testimonial
July Fourth 144.2 3N-4-2W-1 - KARAKARTAL 135.3 3W-1-3N-1-2
Todays "Super Saturday" match saw July Fourth decide to hand out a testimonial to long serving player and former POTS winner at our club Ronnie O'Sullivan who's time at the club could be coming to a end soon, July Fourth quickly got off to a flying start with winning 2 free-kicks and Beckett converting them both, Petersen was looking for assists try and break Zidane's club record at 35 but they never came, O'Sullivan had a couple of chances to score during the first half but his efforts in all honesty were quite poor and July Fourth had to settle for a 2-0 lead at HT, the second was just about the same, we subbed off O'Sullivan midway through the second half because he wasn't doing anything, Beckett fired in an indirect free-kick for Papaleo to header in for 3-0 and shortly afterwards Watson's run through on goal made it 4-0 after delivering a tap-in for Miku to score easily.
Goals: Beckett (1,9) Papaleo (73) Miku (75) MOTM: Papaleo.(Should of been Beckett IMO)
Well that brings the end of another league season, We did eventually win the league by 15 points and finished the league at 24 games unbeaten after les guerriers put an end to our long run back in Round 2. les guerriers faded in the 2nd half of the season whilst July Fourth had been flawless and thats been the difference in how we won the league. Next season will be tough.
Ronnie O'Sullivan has served a total of 7 seasons so far for July Fourth and soon he is to be sold, either at this weekend or the beginning of the following season in 4 weeks time, although he wasn't one of the best players, He still played an important role in S19 and S20 scoring many vital goals to help us win the treble in S19 and the CL in S20, He also was the July Fourth Player of the Season winner in S20 seeing him score a vast amount of goals in the final week as July Fourth completed an unbeaten league season that season and scoring crucial goals in the Semi-Finals of the CL that season. With being a POTS winner and a long serving team player he just about deserves the thumbs up for a testimonial match.
