That is true. But it gives you a better cup draw apparently.

The only benefit I can see is it allows you to start the season with a less Q squad so that your Cup gets easier, then spend them after that to have a little edge.
The only reason I couldn't win this Cup is because I was the only lvl 3 manager in the competition against mostly lvl 5's, and this even by starting the season with 4/5* players (no scout).

I find this selection system quite messed up to be honest...

I think it is the only way to make things somewhat fair. It groups together the scout buyers and only by wasting a ton of money can you get around it. There was one idiot that sold his whole team and bought the worst players so he would be in a low cup draw, then replaced them all with scouts once the cup was drawn. What a waste of money and brains. and yes he won, which is basically cheating. I remember the goof saying that it wasnt cheating, but playing by the rules set by Nordeus. But at the end of the day, it is not playing fair and sportsman-like, so it is cheating.

I was actually thinking of exactly this, And how expensive it would actually be.

Aside from the fact that it could be viewed as cheating, I think it shouldn't cost that much if well planned. It will need some time and dedication though.

If you do sell all your good players, at the end of the season, you'll have plenty of cash to spend in the next, so that bit is settled. What can still be a problem is tokens to buy those players. If however you aim for old and unwanted high Q players, mostly with no skill (since they are useless anyways) then you should be able to do this for a rather low quantity of tokens (I'm thinking 1 to 5 tokens per player max, so some 30 tokens to buy 11 players.) It's easily doable, again if you have the time and patience.

But, yes, I can understand how it could be seen as cheating...

But it really is the opposite of fair... Right now, if I train my squad during the season and get scouts out of them, I'm penalized for the next season, because I'll be facing higher level teams. But, if decide to maintain a crappy squad to avoid this, then I'm also penalized but this time in the current season...

    I really don't find it fair. : (

A solution would be to simply mach up same quality AND same level teams. With all the people playing this game, I thought they wouldn't find enough teams to do this if they really wanted to.

Ok, so you have tons of in-game $$$ from the sale of your players, but you have to keep at least 14 of them and then buy and sell and buy and sell, etc. until you have a ton of 3* players, which is the minimum you can buy on the transfer list I think, depending on your server. There might be the opp to buy 2*, but I cant remember seeing any.

So you have your $$$ and 3*, so you wait for the new season and you have tokens to buy the 5* players, at least 11 of them. THEN you have to Power Train them up to scout or you buy 11 scouts, if you can find 11 scouts that are worth it in the positions you want.

SO you will be spending at least $50-100 REAL cash to do buy the tokens to do this. IS winning a trophy this was so important that you will waste money like this to do it? I think its fuking stupid.

It is not seen as cheating, it IS cheating.

Of course not! And I agree, THAT would be damn stupid. The guy you mentioned, probably did it that way... But in my post above, I'm suggesting a different and much cheaper way to get a pretty close result.

Another benefit of holding on to the skill points is that if you have a free agent who you are planning on signing in the beginning of the next season (as you should) his value and therefore signing bonus will be lower without those skill points assigned.
