Well as day 1 of the season draws to a close for me, I'm probably a little bit disappointed.

I originally planned to save my tokens until 2-3 days into the season before buying players. However the temptation/boredom of a lazy sunday overtook my resolve. As a result I ended up spending all 18 tokens, and only picked up 3x players in their stead, 2 of them only 4 stars too (I'd hoped to pick them up with just a couple of tokens... but things have a way of spiralling out of control).

But I've increased my squad size from 17 to 20, and have covered a couple of the positions I urgently wanted players for. Now I just have 2 more spots to fill + 6x old and/or 3* players to upgrade this season. 2.5M still in the bank, so didn't blow my budget yet either.

However, I had my first Cup match. What a shocker, I don't know if it's really a "troll" match, but I feel like it was.

They ran 4-1DMR-3W-2, and I countered with a 3-4-2-1 (2-1 stacked left), which I then modified to 3-4-1-2 at half time after one of their DCs got a red card 13' into the match.

I had 80% possession as they were running an illegal formation (3x wingers on the left) and one of their defenders received a red card 13' into the match. However I still ended up losing 2:1. Although as they had 2x 5* and 3x 6* players (one almost 7*) amidst a swarm of 2* players, against my more balanced squad of almost all 4* players, I'm not too surprised that they managed to sneak through my defence. In hindsight, I probably should have run 4x defenders (or 3DCs 1DMC), as their strikers are of a much higher quality than my defenders.

So a bit of a mixed bag today, I'm not really happy with the outcome, and just have to hope that I can win my game tomorrow, as a first round knockout from the cup would destroy my season (Since I primarily rely on the cup for income)
