I think you may end up with players one or two levels lower that are active and buy tokens. I prefer playing against players 1-2 levels higher that are generally inactive

Then why promote it to others? It's something looked down upon. Many people win their cups fair and square without any form of manipulation.

i thinks all people know it now, if you see someone hasn't archive the cup for something like 10 seasons and want to has one before they retired. he should know it. i had never do manipulation and i won it twice.

I relish the challenge of facing any opponent. I am level 5 and have been paired with levels 9-8-8 this season in the cup and have beat them all. I am now playing against an Asian fellow who is level 7 and I lost the away leg 1-0 through a penalty after he invited all his mates to cheer him on. I am more looking forward to the second leg knowing I'm losing and don't really care if I go out. I simply love the cup and would never use manipulation as for me it would ruin the game. I play for me and for my enjoyment only. I do not play to simply fill my trophy room so that I can show it off to others.
