Well, imagine the results if you take away the 80-20 penalty. Now, many players, like you and me, are still having difficulties beating certain illegals with the penalty. So it would seem obvious that due to the fact we're dealing with algorithms and game mechanics, that certain wacky formations exploit these, and thus become overpowered. I think people tend to get blindsided by the 80-20 possesion. It's just a penalty and in no way representative for the real balance of power on the pitch.
