Is it really worth saving the 40/50 skill points for special abilities on players? as I can imagine would take some time to do. And which are usually best for certain positions as I believe midfielders have a range to pick from I think, any idea thoughts on what's the route to take?

I never train one of these habilities, so, I don't know if, when you train it, "always" work well, or is like in the scouts, some better, some... worst and really there are some corner specialist with nothing of special.
That's the side of what I call "visible" special abilities. When you see that a player is programmed to have this "specific" ability by default, with better or worst result.

The other side, are what I call as a side of the hidden skills and abilities of a player, and is that a player without special abiliti can be programmed by default to shoot well corners and obtain 70% of goals when he shoot a corner, for example.
In this case, "you" and only YOU can discover this abiliti and take advantadge of this, because there's no picture saying that the player is specialist in something.
(-.-)' so, like I said in the beggining, somebody have to come here and say if when you waste the 50 tokens works for sure or, if for example, works depending the conditions of the player, if he is usually effective, for example.

Rather increase the player's quality and value. Let him serve you better and longer and get some return when you sell

Are you happy that you have a squad of at least 20 players on a similar quality level?
If so then what is their ave age? If its young, then your squad is rapidly growing in quality and value...you may want to tweak (sell) the odd slower/weakling for a better quality player. If your squad is a mixture of old and young, the the old slow trainers low rating player can be changed for a youngster.

The main aim I think is to grow a squad at a similar and to compete against similar/slightly better level teams.

Scout players can be cultivated, (rather than bought) , sold on and replaced in no time. Reap the benefits of growing a young squad and selling high. Much more fun.
Also seek out the young higher value players and decide if you can risk the bid process.

Always buy in the new season (earlier is better) and sell before the season closes. Managers will buy right up to the end. Cash on hand never depreciates

I did this half way through season 1 to season two, I trained a MC to be a free kick specialist, it took a long time to do, and I ofton took skill points awarded to other players to help speed the process, He turned out to be a good MC, but the downside to it is after a few more seasons he is too many skill level or stars behind the rest of your updated team!., I kept him for 4 seasons and the last one he hardly played, I should have used the skill points spread over other players in my opinion, he just wasn't worth doing it. If you are going to splash some cash on extra training then yes it might be worth it, personally I think your better off going saving TOKENS and getting a scout. there used to be a Bible I called it on the internet by a legend player on here called JULY THE FOURTH and he explained it in great detail and his final thought was NO unfortunately I already was half way through by then so carried on and completed what I started, The bible has since been removed to great shame off some of us!!!!!!!!!.

I was wrong, I moved the skill points to different skill sets of that player, I got myself confused with trainning special ability, It was 4 seasons ago when I did that, I tried again 10 mins ago and you can not, I am quite baffled by some managers on here saying they bank there skill points, seem a waste as if you sell that player later you have not benefited from it.

Is there any difference in scouts from beginning and end of a season? And yeah I have all young players I have an 18 year old worth 8 million haha I neglected my team after reaching level 5 came back to 60 million funds so spent like 50mill on my team

The diference is whend you buy a scout he have high Q and SA, If you buy him near the end of season he Will lose His star and be only a 5* with SA in the season after, and you can get those in the market for less that 50T.
Only buy a scout near the beggining of season, with 22/23 years old and near the 7*, that way he Will be in scout level 3 seasons in a row without any kind of extra training.

Teaching special abilitys for me is a waist of skill points, my fastest trainer was able to gaine 85 SP/season without extra training, that means almost 6 Q levels, If i would teach him a SA he would only grow 2 Q levels, that means 1 less season in team, and they only have maximum training speed 4 years between 18 and 21 years old, after that His speed of training reduces about 50%.

The exception can be If you are tanking or If you have a lot of greens and 18 years old player real fast trainer near the 6*.
