    They certainly did not know that when they just started the bidding. And then it becomes the matter of which one separates "enough" from "let's bid one more". While the good amount of tokens is already spent, and there's possibility that it's just the matter of only 1-2 more.

    I call that a " 'Can't waste the Tokens I have already bid' Syndrome"....... It is fatal, not only for the patient, but also for those who start a war with him.......
