Sudden Player Wage Change

I just bought a player in a Transfer auction. He was listed with a Market Value of $39.6 million and season wage of $1.54 million.

I had to sell a player in order to add him, and when it came time to sign the new player his season wage jumped to $2.19 million.

Why did that happen? How did him not being fully signed for two hours result in a $600k raise?

It's another one of those things.

It seems that the wage you see is from his last contract and you'll get paying a different one anyways.
