This is a matter of personal choice. For instance: I have a few 4* players that won't progress any further before the season ends, therefore in a few days, the will drop to 3*. I've been browsing the TL, looking at players. I have seen a number of 5* players who are not far off the next quality star. So I've bid, and won a couple of them. Even if I don't manage to get them to the next level by the weekend, they will still start next season, 1* better than my current players. So I say, buying now can be a benefit, especially if many managers are NOT buying. You can pick up some useful additions without spending too many tokens bidding.
