Sorry but how can you tell how close a player is to getting a new star?
Multiples of 5 is when your player reaches a new star. so for example a player with quality 39 is about to hit the next star when he hits 40. If you look at skill points the average of the 3 categories is what quality they are.

As RJ says, you can count the Quality.
Your players earn Skill Points (SP) and each sp applied is worth 0.2Q to the attribute category (attacking, defensive or physical & mental) its applied to - 5sp raises Attacking by 1 so 3x5=15sp raises all 3 by 1 and therefore Average Q by 1 ....... 75sp raises ave Q by 5.
