    to be fair though, it's not really a football manager game now either. The game engine seems to really random things up all the time, and those who are willing to spend the most money are best off.

    That is not neccessarily true. I am now in my 8th season. Apart from the first season, I have spent SOME money in all of them. Since I've completed 7 seasons, that's 20 different competitions (7 league, 7 cup and 6 champs lge), and I've won the grand total of 2 trophies (both CL). So I don't consider myself better off for spending money.
