start from the beginning, so synchronize your upgrade (with lights-table score ...) after the day you're getting the academy players.

Yes all facilities that generate reset timer when you upgrade.

When you build youth, make sure the last upgrade occurs on day 15 (of the season).

If you build on day 14, the new youth will appear on day 1 of new season will lose a star and age before you get a chance to sign them, so aim for day 2 of the new season.

I still think they could do more with this !!!!!!! it seems a shame most just let go the token player and then sell the free youth come on nordeus make it worth while to upgrade youth

Revised schedule on when to build your final youth academy:

When you build youth, make sure the last upgrade occurs on day 14 (of the season).

I totally agree with that. Whats the point worried about youth facilities when you have to pay 18-24 T for a descent/good player when you can find 1st-2nd class nordgens with 1-3 T ?
It would be better if I could "order" a player - say, an AMC-AMR with "sudden strike" f.e.
It's spoiling the fun having some academy/nationality players in your team and see how they're doing.

Youth players should be a competitive option compared to Nordgens. They wouldn't be that far off in price if the 1* gap wasn't there. Token youths should be one star higher or significantly reduced in cost to reflect the star difference with the former a far better option.

That would give a true choice of players for either Tokens or Cash.
