If you want to hire a trainer and increase a players level by one, you have to pay around 50-70 tokens.

    OR

you can ditch him and buy a scout for around the same price.

    doesn't seem right to me.

personal trainer is one of the worst deals of the game
    - but it's the best way to improve your team if you won the lottery

just sell the player you want to train and purchase a scout for the same price. Once that's done, rename him the same name as your player you sold...

    LOL

uhm...ok, yes it is super expensive. But some players are *not* easy to replace, a Scout is not a sure thing. If you have a guy getting goals and assists every match, maybe the investment looks good. Or, you won the lottery and/or don't need to count the cost.
Expressed above is my own opinion. Your results may vary.

Personal trainer if I remember well, was the best option when, your player reach the 9* and you are going to 10* -1 cone, because if you count the greens you need to train and win 100% progress (1 cone) and you do the count (if I remember well, in some cases) you save tokens by using the personal trainer in the place to buy greeens + is a direct training and you don't need reds due injuries.

Ok, well It's still cheaper to buy 3-4 scouts than it is to upgrade your current player 4 levels, no? I guarantee one of those four scouts is going to pay off.

    No physical injuries?

Then I have to say that I've finally found who's this mysterious Personal Trainer.
