When a company brings an updated product to the market, they expect a flash in the pan, i.e. a short-lived outburst of rage from existing customers who were used to the old version, and who whine for a short period of time until they get used to the updated version, stop their whining and live quietly ever after.

This is probably what we represent at the moment: that inevitable flash in the pan that follows after the release of a new version of a product.
