hmm ok that makes some sense. But why isn't there still serious competition from other people at or around your level for these players? Going on a tangent to the youth academy thing...

Since only half the teams ever get promoted it must get to the stage when entire leagues are full of good, highly active players.

In a theoretical server of 10000 players, 5000 get promoted to level 2 in season 1, 2500 to level 3 in season 2, 1250 in season 3 etc... The number of teams at the highest level has to be halved every season, so there must be a point where even good players don't get promoted. Then as new players coming in later get promoted and join them, there should be many more teams with active players in lower tiers than in the top tiers. Or have I missed something?

And did I get lucky with a youth player worth more per token than a bank investment? Because if not and that is the norm, then signing the token player makes financial sense even if it is just to sell him off straight away. It doesn't matter what you're spending in tokens in an auction... you will run out of money to spend on new players without bank investments or player sales after buying 3 or 4 top players in a season, right? I have been limited in the transfer market this season not by a lack of tokens, but with a lack of transfer funds after splashing out on 3 top players despite only failing to make semis of CL/Cup a couple of times in my 4 1/2 seasons.
