need help asap to beat 4-4-1-1

Hey.

I'm playing the guy who is 2nd in my league. i am number 1.
I use a 4-5-1 V and i just saw that he has changed his regular tactic to counteract mine. So now he uses 4-4-1-1.
My question is, what is the best way to counteract his 4-4-1-1?

I don't know, I've often played with long passing and it works for me.

thanks! Turns out i am facing him tomorrow, not today. I played a 4-4-2 today and used 4-5-1 V... dropped 3-1 to 3-3 despite my team being far superior. Great game engine this that makes me and 2nd place have the same points ahead of our game.

another question. sometimes the guy im facing tomorrow plays 4-1-4-1. What tactic works best against that?

i heard people saying short passes is better facing a team who have 8 at the back as it will be too crowded for long balls.. is that true?

It's maybe most peoples teams, everyone is different, my team seems to work best on long passing for some reason.
