How to build a strong team?

    Hey there!
I have not played the game since several months and yesterday i started again.
I am not classified for CL this season but only for the Cup.
My primary goal is to win the league and following question is - can you give me any advices on how to win the league easier? My strength is the same as the others, maybe a bit more, but it would be good if you help me.
    Thanks!

If you are living on 35T only and not able/willing to farm much then all I can give you are strategic lessons.

    Hard attacking
    long passing
    full pitch press
    counter only against better opps
man to man marking (always works better for me)
    no offside trap

4-1-3-2 or 4-2-3-1 depending on where your talent is and the strength of opp.

If you have access to tokens or pack farming then it is buying and training nordgens.

If you have a choice of where to spend for your better players I would always suggest in this order\

    1. ST's
    2. CB's
    3. AM's (RAM/LAM and then CAM)
    4. CM
    5. GK
    6. FB's (mainly because they now seem to be the most difficult position to find quality)

Top caliber players at ST and CB are worth their weight in gold

Hard attack is very risky, a simple defense and counter will leave you with 0 and your opponent with like 5.
Yes 5. It has happened to me and I have in turn paid that favour to naive managers.

    4-5-1 V-style (motivated)
An awesomely versatile formation that combined with a few arrows can be either attacking or defensive. In this case, you want to force an attack through the wings, so…

    ————-ST—————
    AML———————AMR
    ———MC——-MC———
    ————-DMC (UP)———
    DL (UP)—-DC–DC—-DR (UP

Motivated DL and DR’s block movement from the opponents ML and MR’s while also feeding passes to your AML and AMR. The 2 MC and motivated DMC block any centre movement.
On the attack your formation will effectively be:

    ———–ST————
    AML—————–AMR
    ——MC–MC–MC—–
    DML—————-DMR
    ———-DC–DC——–

That gives you 5 midfielders to block the opponent’s 5, and you have 2 attacking midfielders which have open access since he doesn’t have wing backs or fullbacks. On the defense, your formation will return to the basic 4-5-1 and still give you a solid coverage.

Mentality: Usually normal, but I recommend going defensive with hard tackling if the opponent’s team is better, and attacking if the opposite is weaker with normal tackling
    Force counter: Yes
Passing: mixed, through both flanks or /short, mixed play
    Pressing: own half
    Zonal marking

if you have ml/aml player and mr/amr player you can also easily play the 4-1-4-1 formation

and the 3n-5-2 or 3n-5-2v formations

If you are playing with lees active teams, which I guess you are, simple things like boosting morale will bring serious dividends.
If you have active managers and stronger teams you must ho to the market, spend your tokens on the best defenders you can find, then midfielders, and then strikers if possible. Reason being that managers (including me) feel frustrated when a team with several qualities cannot beat a simple team, they begin to make changes like overloading the attack which favours even when you make no changes except for bringing in fresh legs.

Defend if you are the weakest.
Risk attack if you are the most active.

I would say the central core of any team is a competent 4* minimum GK, a good striker or MC with FK, a corner specialist, and one 5 star DC at least. Start with those, and then build to your preferred formation, you may have to play the transfer market to find deals and slowly build your strength.

What if you put a red arrow on the ST, does the ST end up playing in the opponents goal?
Arrows are still a mystery in this game. I have had good and bad effects when using them, but more negative effects when red arrows were put on DMC and side defenders.

imho if you narrowing your ST forward you are risking off-sides more than you not narrowing up him BUT if he gets the ball in perfect time you should score from dat situation

btw: if i have a chance i attend my games with the new beta "table-soccer" feature and my last cup game had sooo many off-sides so i suspect my oppo was playing with off-side trap feature

    edit:

on-topic: i suggest to the topic opener a good old attacking narrow-diamond (4-1-2narrow-1-2) formation of course it have 4 extra position (DL,DR,DMC,AMC: but less than 451v) and you should maintain your players above 4* but it's worth a try

Arrows are not a mystery. Imo, the game, as with many games, uses a less > average > more mechanic.

When you set the formation in a the grid an arrow does not move a player forward or back a box. That's bogus imo. The grid is just a graphical representation of relative positions and a means for the game to check and apply 'factors'.

Attacking Mentality makes a team more attacking and Defensive mentality = more defensive. Arrows do that to an individual player.

Ask yourself what Attacking does at a team level and that's what happens at a player level.

Red arrows = Players will get forward more and use Attacking skills more.
Blue Arrows = Players try to fall back more and use Defensive skills more.

On topic, differing stategies will depend on the level of activity of other managers. Generally speaking, at low levels attacking is the best poilcy but against an experienced manager this could unravel.
