Pride, more than anything else, was at stake tonight. The lads had two away matches, back-to-back and the whole squad was required to do their utmost. The first match saw us playing away in a league match in the north of England.

Result: SHAGHER DONESK 0-4 LONDON CITY
Goals: Duran 6, Lanwer 33, Bentley 50, King 64
M.o.M: Teddy King

Two goals in each half, against a struggling team, saw us back on track, after a winless couple of days. Lukas Duran got us off to a dream start, heading in from a Teddy King free-kick. Bjorn Lanwer added a second just after the half hour mark. After the break, Marcus Bentley and King himself, doubled our lead, to help with our goal difference, and give us a moral boosting win. But our two league rivals also won their respective matches.

It was then a mad dash to Indonesia, for our CL match, which kicked off 15 minutes later. Only three players kept their places in the team from the earlier game.

Result: TA UNITED 1996 0-1 LONDON CITY
Goals: King 32
M.o.M: Teddy King

A magnificent team performance gave us an unexpected win against our much stronger opponents. For the most part, it was a "backs to the wall" game, but the lads responded magnificently. We only managed 3 shots all game, but from one of them, Teddy King managed to place his header past the bemused goalie, from a Paul Edmonds corner. We are hoping for some more luck in the second leg at our place in the return. Special praise must go to our young, reserve striker, Teddy King, who volunteered to play in both games and ending with two goals, and two man of the match awards.
