I've bid on several players with no luck. It would be nice to know if your bid was seen or even being considered.

If you bid from your PC you could always check if the manager is active or not.. That's how you figure out if it's worth bidding or not..
If his squad is updated, no players out of position, trophy from last season.. this would mean that the manager is active enough.

An active manager can reject or set the selling price, then you know there is life. I have primarily sold but also bought through negotiations.
I think most offer to little. the tokens for the other manager is IMO the only thing that matters for him
The biggest issue IMO is that the machine eats so large a percentage of the offer

I usually offer 4-6 tokens to other managers, about 50% of the players i offer for end up being in my team..
Go for 18-19 y.o players, they cost 9-10T as starting price, highest you should pay for them is about 17-19 tokens.
Sometimes i offer 2-3Tokens then the managers sets a fixed selling price and the range is about 5-6Tokens + Money..
It all depends on how important that player is for his team.. Trying to buy a player from a higher level may be cheaper, even if you offer like 2-3Tokens the manager is going to accept most of the times.

i have bought a couple of player`s because like you on another thread can`t find one position you need on auction, and i generally sell my players via neg list so i`m a year ahead in thinking what player`s i need for new season, i also train my non token youth`s for neg list and the best 20 ( max offer ) tokens for a youth GK
15 Titles
10 Runner-up
5 Champions league
2 Runner-up
4 Cups
2 Runner-up
1 Treble
In higher levels i think Negotiations is more used. But for sure unless you offer the manager a couple T they wont even consider, unless it's a bad player they want to offload.
It is best to look at the rest of his team, to see if he just got the guy, or if the player is a starter (not going to accept Negotiations) or if he is sitting on the reserve bench ready to leave team.
Expressed above is my own opinion. ☻ Your results may vary.

i never bid .. but sold many players with the system
What I have been doing with O Token Offers this season is bumping up Sell Price to 3T
Lots of Players don't come back to check and accept the offer that is reasonable IMHO.
So works both ways.
Plus mind games also, as I had one Player who was against Me in Champs trying to buy a DC, so I just kept his Tokens in limbo as long as possible.

If people do a stupid offer i bump it up to max price and hostage their T.
