I gave my best performer a new name and number - after that he had three very bad games. I asked my next best player to develop a special ability - after that he perform very bad. Stupid of me to do that before important games. Now I will never know if results could have been different

I 'm sure that the first is coincidence but I 'm not sure about the second.

When I let my players gain a star, their performance usually worsen for a few matches.

Coincidance in both cases, if you don't bought new players and the ranking of leadership inside team did not change (that means players have new companion that can make others play better/worse) just all is a coincidance, too probly affected the teams you faced these days or other factors.
