This is what I used to think - you control the midfield you control the game.

Now I believe they're getting more strict with formations. 4-5-1v is a defensive option, therefore, wingers dominate the goals but there won't be many.

41-2-1-2 is working for me and my strikers are scoring.

I had the same problem on my league last season the teams were much weaker than the ones in the cup and CHL but was hard for my team to score it looks like I didn't have any win bonnus applied, so I used to play defensive all the way on the league cup and CHL the results were win the league with good advantage for several seasons but wasn't successful on the cup and CHL, I believe the orders for all the competitions can't be the same, about 4-5-1V if we have a good squad such as Barcelona from beck star and nik I see as a very attacking 4-3-3 because the way the wingers attack and score they are strikers so I don't think 4-5-1v as defensive.

Yeah I feel like I've been capped at 3 goals when using 1 striker late last season even when i was dominating the game and easily could have put in 8.

If you are playing 451v as offensive you are exposing your flanks and risking more than you are gaining. Plus your link up play in the centre sucks if you try to use short passing with this formation.

There are still a lot to explore for 451v.

Actually although it seems 3 guys up front in my team, the only one I can rely on is the best winger in my team who dominated almost every competition in the last 2 seasons. I used defensive and down to both flanks.

Since this season I started using mixed instead of down to both flanks and I realized that my MCs became better but the star winger downgraded.

Today I lost to a team ranked from the last season and his quality is very so so... The first goal conceded is a penalty that caused by my second winger, and he got a yellow card. So from this you can tell that 451v defensive is defensive and also offensive; but sometimes the wingers do defensive work.

    And concede penalties doing so.

Yes, because his defensive skills are low.

And so this was why I trained a new winger with all three skills equally good. Who knows when he uses what skills:-)

or you could just use him in an attacking role with an attacking formation and not worry about his defense

He is already on bench now. Actually he has been with this team for a while but never shown he is a star; he can always perform well when we play against weak teams but every time I expect he can stand out, he doesn't.

A new winger has replaced him, and this new one might not be as good as my 1st winger but at least should not be worse than this guy.
