Not exactly, you just pick high valued players and bid senselessly at any time of the day. Not much training is required to keep up their quality.

Only if you're power training, but even then, you only have to log in every hour or so.

each stretch I gain 35-40 % (6 times/hour) that's atleast 2 skill points per hour. Easily gain 1 star/day.
