1. Several 5* players this early in the season
2. Large amounts of cash
3. Impressive trophy case (only can be seen on old version).

If the above is present, You're at risk for bidding against a token buyer.

And as a token buyer, I know before bidding for a player, which players I can run out of tokens and what ones can hang around for awhile if I want a player.

So if going into a bidding war w/o several 5* players this early in the season, you're probably not going to be scaring other managers off...

Bro i am that "Several 5* players this early in the season. I ended last season with six 6* players and five 5* players. He could also supose that i was a token buyer (which im not). I builded last season team with 25 tokens I spent no tokens during the whole season just so that i could rebuild another 6* star team about mid-season. Unfortunatly.. whatever Despite what you all might think this dont affect me that much o.o

One thing to add; if you look at the someones achievements and see the stubborn achievement, you'll know that they've got to round 50 before. If his team is strong and u see this achievement stay away...

I don't understand other thing;
If manager has many tokens, then why he starts token war at all? Better solution is to make a offer through negotiations, you can buy fantastic players for under 20 tokens which is waay better than 40+ on token war. Besides that, if owner doesn't accept your bid, you get ALL of your tokens back!
Remind yourself what happens with tokens when you lose auction....

Still didn't prove as successful method for me right now.
My team Dnipro is out of the cup already.
1st match at home, both managers present
my full 4* squad has lead 3-0 in 55', but opponent scores in 88' for 3-2. Before 2nd match I've bought completly new 5* defence, 5* GK, few 5* mildfielders and put back in 1st team 5* AMC-ST
2nd match away
Opponent's manager isn't present, I am, he has only 1 new player in the squad, weak 5* MC while I have more than a 1/2 of the team improved to 5* players.
Result: My team suffered defeat, result 4-1

Does early strenghtening really pays off? I'm not sure anymore.

IMO you should field only 1 debutant in the defence (consists of GK, DL/C/R) and at the most 2 in the other positions. These guys should get 4-5 games with the original players to get along with the squad.
