I have 3 corner specialist, and one freekick specialist, and I am glad to have them. So I totally agree with you

What can a Shadow Striker really do? How do you know that it is effective?

is the DEFENSIVE WALL really about being able to block freekicks? doesnt it mean that the player is just very hard to get past in open play? that he is like wall - impossible to penetrate? That's usually that a defensive wall means

I'd like to know that also, I never had one of those..

best for me is the free-kick taker and corner specialist.

When I play my defensive wall players the opposing team always shoot their free kicks into the wall. I'm mostly playing lower quality wise players though but it seems to work.

I have had all SA players accept aerial def, one on one scorer and shadow striker in the previous 6 seasons. Never trained them, always bought.I wiould rate them like this:
    GK
One on one stopper: Had this guy Anderson who played 2 seasons as 4 star and another half as 3 star. Was great!!! That's all I can say. He stopped many penalties as well. Was actually gr8 in one on one situations.

Penalty Stopper:Had this guy Grieve who played about a season 4 me. Was avg and stopped 50% of penalties.
So I recommend u to have a one on one stopper as they are better and one on one situations are much more common than penalties. u never have them in leagues and have them in ch league or cup only if there is a 2 leeged draw,

    Defenders
Defensive wall: Had this guy Mustafa Daud(still have him as sub). played 2 seasons as 4 star and was gr8 during free kicks and counter attacks against me.

Aerial defender: Never had one, although I have heard that they are damn useful during corners and indirect free kicks against u. They also block crosses. They also head in many goals when u have corners. Never bought as I never needed anyone of the position of the player who appeared in my market as the aerial def. Hope to have him some day.

    Recommended: Both of them.

    Mid fields and strikers:
Dribbler: Bought one yesterday and scored 2 and assisted one to get the man of the match. Name is Ayuk.In real life, I am myself a good dribbler and am a messi fan, so its a dream come true 4 me to own a dribbler. They r rare on my server.

Shadow Striker: Never had one. Have heard they r avg and not necessary. They are gud at long range shots and u can use them to take free kicks if u have no specialist 4 dat. They make gud pair wid playmkers.

Playmakers: Have had several of them. Most recent being Atliok who got a broken leg and went out fro 10 days and so he went out of my team(some moron poor guy bought him. LOLs. So never buy inj players). Will describe them in one word: Useless. They are supposed to pass and promote attack. Dey need tro pass to correct players nd provide assists. This Atliok played 10 matches 4 me and scored none and assisted none being a ML. His avg form was about 6. Same wid other playmakers I have had.

One on one scorer: Never had one. Have no info so sorry. But as the name suggests, they shud shoot more them pass when one on one and score at a higher rate when one on one.

    Set pieces:

Penalty specialist: First had Ganguly then had Chang. Again one word for the: Pathetic. They are supposed to score more in penalties bu they actually miss more than onyone else. this chang missed 4 out of 4 he got in 3 friendlies and 1 league match. didn't score otherwise as well and had no assist. avg form of about 6 and no MoM. Sold him after 10 matches. Was a burden on finances. Same 4 ganguly. If u unfortunately have one of these burden on finances, don't use them. Use players wid highest shooting skills.

Free kick specialist: Had this guy Hutcheon who played 2 whole seasons 4 me. Was GR8. He scored at about 80% success rate in free kicks and and was my highest scorer overall, and also my captain. Was one of the best players I ever had. If there was a hall of fame of my club, he wud have surely beed there. He was an AMC. If u don't have one, use the player wid highest shooting skills.

Corner kick specialist: Have had several. Rite now have Yousuf Atta in subs. Atta played more than one whole season 4 me and was gr8 at corners. dat time I cudnt see the leg of the player as the update had not cum. Later got to know he was either footed. They r gud at crossind in corners and about 7/10 of his crosses were headed by one of my players. He was a DMC. If u don't have one, use the player wid highest crossing skills. Mind the leg.

So overall, I recommend a one on one stopper goalie, a defensive wall, an aerial defender, a free kick specialist, a corner specialist, a one on one scorer.

Hope this helped. It is purely based on my experience of 6 seasons. Pls correct me politely if I am wrong anywhere.

Sorry 4 long post... Its my habit.

    Free kick, corner, aerial defender
It's all luck, nothing more. Whether bad or good.
