Question Pairing in CHL knock-out phase?

    Hi

How are the groups paired after the group-stages?

I know the 1. and 2. goes through, but which other groups do they play?

    Is it 1. place group A vs. 2. place group B, 2. place group A vs. 1. place group B, 1. C vs. 2. D, 2 C vs. 1. D and so on, or is it just random pairing?

    Good luck with your seasons.

The draw for the knockout stage is detailed in this post:

Also contains a link to the rules concerning tied positions...

Damn! took an age to find - why isn't this sort of thing stickied?
Any formation or tactics advice given is based purely on experience with my teams...

Hmm, they just do not want us to figure this out. They call it Champions league but this is actually the rule used in World Cup in real football. There should be a proper draw at the quater final stage otherwise groups G and H winners have the second leg home advantage throughout the competition.

Another possibility is a seeded draw at the 'Top-16' stage so the second placed teams will always play a 1st place team (except the one from their Group), then it's a lottery who gets the 'home advantage'...

That's a disadvantage for us, as we've won the Group H, but I like to play second leg away, since then if it goes to extra time, we need only a goal, unless nordeus goes crazy and gives them two.
