Attention Moi: Hard Defending and The Assistant Manager

Anytime I play in Hard Defend mode the assistant manager blathers on about "switching to something more offensive if we want to win this match".

The reason i'm in this mode is because I'm a lower quality team compared to my opponent and it's really my only hope to keep him from steam rolling me. There might also be a slight chance of squeaking a counter attack by them with the hopes of tying or beating them by a single goal. A newer player might not understand this and they will do what the ass man says and lose every match. Which will just add to more headache and negative comments your team will have to deal with. It might also discourage players from continuing with the game.

I propose you include some new script with the next update that encourages you for playing hard defending even if it's a low scoring match.

Anyone else or am I alone on this?

P.S. I use to turn the assistant manager off, but sometime he does offer some insight that works.

I have the impression that sometimes the assistant manager deliberately gives the manager bad advises to make him lose the match, and other times the assistant manager give the right advises so that the manager wins the match. Also, some advises seem to be late, and by the time the manager makes the adjustments, the advised orders is no longer appropriate or the the last part of the match simulation has already been calculated.

The only one I can think about off hand was last season away in the cup I was 2 up went to "hard defending" assistant manager kept going on about that we´d never score with this formation & mentality……eh?
There should be some support for defensive tactics.

Hmm... maybe will be good option to change the sense in what assistant talk... something like, based in how goes the match + Q. differance...
so if theres Q. differance and one keeps the result and is containing the situation against a better team maybe yeah, the assistant can say something like, "-The very defensive strategy seems that works and can help us to don't concede a goal, maybe is time to try and focus a counter for the side of X player... "

but... I guess assistant just talk of strategies to score and maybe will be good to have a option to change the mentality of the assistant before the match, to focus the comments in a target, like, a "aggressive strategy" with the idea to score or "conservative strategy"...

There are advises for the defensive side. For sure, some of the assistant advises are not logical to football tactics and decisions. For instance, 'he' tells you to use force counter attacks, and then a few minutes later to use full pitch pressing, and the opposing manager is not even present? Another example is that you can clearly see that long balls or mixed passing is the best choice, and yet the 'he' asks you to use short passing. Another example is when you have won the first leg, and yet 'he' asks you to go out and attack rather than defend in the second leg, and the funny thing is that when you don't attack, you may lose the match and even get disqualified. I think that there are flaws in the the functioning of the game itself in terms of football tactics and decisions, which is why some of the assistant manager's advises seem to be non-appropriate but yet when such modifications are made, your team seems to have an advantage..

I think there is a misunderstanding with the role of assistant.
I consider him as an "observer" of the game who give me some notes (after checking some calculations and stats)
or sometimes like a fan of the team, who just want his team to win :p

LOL AM always a joke.... @ 52min ....he said our defense should not fall asleep in the last few minute.... 90 - 52 = 38.... so...38 min in AM's eyes are only "last few minute" ..... so... i am sure he doesn't really see the whole match to give you comment~LOL

plus..... his report...... 99% is useless.....
do you think you need someone to tell you that "XXX find a way to shake our net" or " we fail to stop XXX to score" in the after match report???? and he also said "7.6 is good rate for my DC"...while i lost the game by 3:2.... and right on top of that "good rate" he report that " we fail to stop XXX to score".... really???

we fail to stop XXX to score...but my DC was doing a good job so he earned a good rate.... so is that those things we should expect -.-??

-our DR had a divorce and is very aggresive because now the ex have his Ferrari!! sub' him if you wont finish with 10!
-It's raining!! the field is like a swimmingpool and the ball is not a clam!! don't use long passing!

Is not true, the game doesn't do this on propose but for myself seems to be quite impossible to create such a smart bot that will give the best tips and secure you a victory if you follow him.

That's what I think about the assistant manager.

Give your DR to me, I need one desperately.
My market has no DRs, even if there is, they are 3* :mad: but there is an army on DLs and DL/DCs... Nordeus won't give us what we need...

well.... 3 DC can help you~LOL .... i don't have DR since..... season 2..... and now, i am LV13~ (well....among all my DC... i have one DC/DR (from U21....and he is 25 yr old now and he is my first team DC) and one DC/DL.... just in case i need to change formation tho... but......i never change formation no matter what opposite i am facing... 3DC +1DMC is always my defense)....

Same thing here. Lots of nordgens DL/DCs but no good DCs and DR/DMR - not even decent ones. The past 2 seasons or so, there were a lack of DLs, and now it is for DCs and DRs.

The 'funny' thing is that the scouts' list since the start of the season up to now contains good-looking DCs and a DR. The 1st recommendations list this season was also about DRs. Could this be deliberate so that users are forced to use the scout's list and/or recommendations list?

At least two other users complained about the lack of good nordgen DCs on the auction market this season.

My flanks will be vulnerable.
Also, I prefer to attack down flanks. The fullbacks coming up boost the attack.

That's what I think about the assistant manager.

It is about decreasing and increasing the chances of a of team to win. What if those so-called advises are related to the so-called roll of the dice in this game? If this is the case, a good roll of the dice will result in good advises and a bad roll of the dice will result in bad advises.

If something has been intentionally programed to occur in some defined way in this game, then it is on purpose.

The 'funny' thing in this game is that when you use bad order combinations (non-logical in terms of football) and still win (sometimes by large scores) or dominate the match. For example, attacking mentality + force counter-attacks or high pressing + force counter-attacks. As I said above, even the assistant manager advises the manager to use such things. This shows how much '****' this game is in terms of football, and instead of improving this part of the game, Nordeus focuses on other parts and introduces new things that cause other problems.

I'd got a DC/DR just now, but it was a 89% 25 y.o... at least better than having only 1 DR in a squad.
For recommendations? Nah, I've been getting STs since... I've lost count, the past 20 weeks?
Scouts? Maybe. Same for negos.
But they can't beat a manager playing smart and bidding on old players with his only token, and winning the auction. Thank you, I don't need DRs now. But I'd got not a single Nordgen in the season beginning.

For the recommendations, it is because your average quality for the ST area is lowest compared to the other areas. If you sell your lowest quality STs or boost their quality and/or buy higher quality STs, the recommendations would probably change to another region of the pitch.

My AM is Arsene Wenger, indifferent to everyone.
My STs are always the highest rated, yet they're being recommended. And they aren't cheap. 79T for the best. More than 2 months of collection.

You need to consider the average quality of all your players that have the ST position together, including substitutes and reserves. If this average quality is still highest as compared to the other areas, then this is another flaw in this game.

This game has become **** in terms of STs though; Generally, STs should miss less chances and score more goals, but in this game it seems that players in other positions are scoring more or are missing less chances. One of my 6 star strikers have failed to score consistently; he got a lot of 7s as ratings. This is another flaw that should have been fixed way before when users started to report this, but still Nordeus prefer to introduce new things and neglect some significant flaws and other issues in the game. Maybe they themselves don't know what **** they did to this game that caused many strikers to perform badly for the past few seasons or so, or maybe this was done deliberately as suspected by some forum users here. And no, this is probably not due to positioning; positioning for STs is important mainly for headers, receiving a pass and beating the offside trap. Take into consideration that Nordeus just changed the name of an attribute slot; they did not introduce a new slot. This slot was probably the handling slot found in the defense section in some older versions of the game.

There are still big doubts whether the one-on-one scorer special ability for ST do something significant in this game for open-play situations. Some users have reported that their STs with one-on-one scorer special ability were the ones that missed a lot of chances.

There are so many issues (many of which have been reported on the forum here) that should have been looked into and solved by Nordeus, but no, they decide to work on other things - things that will likely to attract more new users and get them addicted so that the profits can be boosted.

@Tactician the average score of STs is not the highest (GKs win it), but it isn't the lowest too (AMR wins it). The problem with STs is back. David has lesser impact than his previous seasons, so is now playing at AMC. We've adopted 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-2-1 as our primary formations. Interestingly, his ratings have improved. Also, there seems to be a dip in the number of set pieces now; in about a third of our games we don't have a FK. David also has been a bit ineffective from FKs. But as an AMC he's been playing extremely well, assisting the wingers.
