Palace Casuals start of season summary and Cup report.
Palace Casuals start their 38th season at Level 34, defending a second League Championship in a row. Their Champions League hopes are just that: hopes, as they have again been 'rewarded' with inclusion in a higher Level Champions League. What's the point of winning a League if you then have no chance of getting anything out of the Champions League the following season?
Champions League Group stage draw:
The Casuals' playing squad on day one:
A bit of trade on Day 1 after the first Cup match saw the three first targets for replacement - Graeme Flood, Gary Millar and veteran attacking Midfielder Angelo Musto - transferred out, and three scouts imported to replace them.
Finally, after fruitlessly haunting the Transfer Market on-and-off for the past 30 hours, the final plunge into the scout market got a replacement for 'keeper Marcus Sacilotto.
On the pitch, Casuals overcame an evenly-matched heavy-attacking opponent in the Cup Preliminary Round, right-winger Jack Auger netting the only goal in a tight home leg, and striker Thiago de Souza Lacerda and midfielder Charly Ducourneau doing the business in a 2-1 away win. Casuals progress to the next round 3-1 on aggregate.
