Day 6 - Palace teams report

Two mid-day League matches and two afternoon Cup matches for our heroes today.

Palace Casuals were at home against the team with the best name hitherto encountered in the game, and a 3-0 win ensued. Goals from striker Thiago de Souza Lacerda, and midfielders Charly Ducourneau and Oystein Pedersen finished off the opposition.

Palace Terriers were also at home, this time gunning for the friend team who they have always lost to, but were going through a Quality crisis. The hosts eked out a 3-0 win, striker Josu Bielsa netting just before the break, and midfielder Glenn Smits and left-winger Hairil Zamri Ahmad Muzafar adding the two in the second half.

Palace Casuals took a 3-1 advantage into the home leg of their Cup Qualifying Round tie and eased to a 2-1 victory to go through to the next round 5-2 on aggregate. The visitors took a shock lead early in the match, and it took until the 62nd minute before right-winger Jack Auger pinged in the equaliser from a corner. Midfielder Charly Ducourneau made the match, and the tie, safe with a goal three minutes from time.

Palace Terriers were at home up against their Level 16 higher-Quality opponent, and made another good fist of the match. Right-back Christian Cros slotted home a penalty in the 10th minute to level the tie and put the home side in line for an away goals win, but the visitors had other ideas, and were level in the match 9 minutes before half time. The hosts suffered their first injury of the season just before the break, DMC Ignatio Quilez the player concerned, central midfielder Glenn Smits replacing him early in the second half. Terriers held out a chance of getting at least extra-time until 7 minutes from the final whistle, when their opponents scored a second goal and put the tie beyond their reach. Terriers lose 1-2 and exit the Cup 2-4 on aggregate.
