So, my 2nd season and now players are crap!

WTF?
Spent the whole of last season getting in younger players, oldest is 23 now, to train up and try and create a good team. Start of the new season and they have all lost a star and their skills have dropped.


If this is how it is every season, then its back to Football Manager for me where your younger players, most of them anyway, get better as the seasons go on.

As I said, I was trying to build a young squad to grow together, but it seems it don't work like that in this game.

No curtness intended, more of a roll-eyes because your type of post appears so often on here. People complaining about star ratings dropping. You need to train them hard to keep their star ratings constant and improve. It might take a couple of seasons to catch up but it's doable especially if they are fast trainers. If you train properly, they should get the star back by halfway through the season. Then you can train them towards the next star. That way your young squad will evolve. But you need lots of Green packs. Farming (watching videos for packs) helps. Failing that, sell the poor performers and purchase young Nordgens each season then train them hard to Scout level (6*). Hope that helps.

Fair enough. As I said, its my first season and rather than read the rules, I was trying to put together a decent squad that took most of my time in-game. Lesson learned

One question: How can you find out if your players are fast trainers? What should I look for?

P.S. Nordgens? How/where do I find them?

Fast trainers are generally 18/19/20 yo and quite expensive. A Nordgen (Nordeus Generated player) will have a club with name such as AC Slimy, FC Silly and other such names. They also have zero stats when you look at their quality and ratings. Best to wait till day 3 onwards to sign players and you'll find better players in the market mostly, with less chance of bidding wars.

One last question while your here. My first season just gone I won my league and the cup, so a double in my first season, but I would wager most of the teams I played were manager-less. Is there a way of telling if your next opponent has a human manager or A.I. controlled?
