When would you guys recommend to start training a player an SA? Would you recommend me giving these 2 players special abilities?
Thanks guys!

Always before power training (as 5* players, not 6-7*).
So not this season.
Your ST no, he ll be 6* and 23 yo.
Your DR next season, a "aerial" or "defensive wall"

I would never waste tokens or greens on SA, the effect is so minimal.
If he already has it, then fine.
I would never train new position either. Hire a new player instead

Thanks for the reply, what about these players then? And would you power train the SA straight from 0/50?
And also, am I making a good move by training this guy a 2nd position?
Thanks for the tip, so would you rather just power train stats and ignore SAs?

(Accidental double post, sorry)
For league, Champions League and Cup, you're better off training an extra star and not training an SA.
For associations, since the draw is based upon quality, having SA's will give you an advantage over a same quality team whose players don't have a SA!

my personal choice ofc. is to have always an "aerial" and a "defensive wall" in my defense.
Also a MC-DMC is a powerful tool for coaching (most of the sa are useless for MCs)

Hi !
I had the exact same questions as you and created a guide on this topic a while ago:
http://forum.topeleven.com/tutorials...-position.html
The guide is useful but not 100% up to date. My advice today on "when" would have been even clearer. In short, the moment you go from 99% to 100% (or 119% to 120% and so forth), the players ability to develop becomes worse. I recommend that you also read the guide Understanding the 2016 training system, see link in my signature below.
On the topic if they are useful, it's not easy to say. In short:
Tier 1 -- I know these are useful from empirical studies more or less:
-FK and corner specialist, extremely useful -- must have on a team
Tier 2 -- Could be as useful as tier 1, but a bit harder to tell:
-Defensive wall and areial defender -- they are the opposite to be FK and corner specialist, harder to tell if they are as useful but they could be
Tier 3 -- Much harder to tell, but I think they are useful
-Shadow striker -- all shots outside the penalty area and just inside it are improved. Useful to players taking a lot of long shots, on my team that's my wingback and wingers.
-Playmaker -- the sign is shown every time a playmaker passes the ball to someone that scores, even off corners. It has nothing to do what type of pass it is. This ability will not make a player you have that makes like 3 assist per season all of a sudden make 15 assists. It do not change the type of passes a player makes, but improves the quality of it. I think this one improves your passing game. But it's much harder to track that and be certain about it.
Tier 4
1on1 finnisher -- Sign never shows, but I think it's the opposite to shadow striker. All short shots are improved by 20%.
Dribbler -- same as above, sign don't show, but I think it just improves the dribbling ability in all situations.
A true beginners guide for ambitious players!
