CK specialists do not work anymore

So for both my teams I had a very good rated players having CK special ability.
Both of them at most matches played as ST.

2 season ago their assists from CK were huuuuge.
From mid last season the ratio dropped pretty low.

I had games with 12+ corners, animation showed me 8-10 of them, all of them CK icon was blinking, but the ball was sent to no-one.
It was like all my players were afraid of the oppo's goal post sitting at the edge of penalty area.

So starting few matches ago, I replaced the kickers for both my teams and picked randomly some defenders, mostly wing defenders.

CK corner-goals have grown again.
Ratio increased.
From animation pov it seems that my penalty area is more crowded and especially my st is always in front of the oppo's gk making trouble in oppo's defenders.

Has anyone observed likewise?
It seems that is an algorithm twist so when you assign an attacking player for corner kick taker, you blow your chances for corner-goal as your penalty area is less crowded.

So on the overall, CK SA plays no role anymore, but the position indeed does.

And the corner become even worse if your kicker is the ST.

Check your "9", his position in you screenshots.
Was he your striker?

For me when I used my ST as a kicker, the position of the 9 was empty, no player of mine filled the gap, so I had a corner kick i a sinkhole of oppo's defenders :p

the weird is not that the player with CK sa is failing.
That happened many times in the past.
The weird is that the sa symbol is blinking when it seems that the corner is failing (not even close to my players).

I really think that SA blinking is just visual effect and SA-s are useless

but when a defender's sa like "wall" or "header" is blinking, they truly send the ball away.
Those are working good.

only wall, aerial and freekick have good effect the rest are somehow useless.

The shots are also blocked without SA. There just isn't the neat icon

7 seasons ago I trained my 2 wide midfielders with SAs. 1 as a dribbler, the other with the super shot thing. I have been most unimpressed. Both players are still starters, but I have to say I expected more from their special abilities.
Recently trained a MC with free kick SA and he puts more into the wall, wide or into the car park than he gets on target. Would at least expect him to force the opposition keeper to work.
So I'd agree that SA training seems to make little to no difference.
I'll only use it in future to put the brakes on players I want to appear on next seasons negotiations lists.

SA is such a thing... I don't know, if it's good or worthless...

I have some theories:

1.) SA have to suit to the player, that means: Try out, if he kicks good from corner, check him as FK,... If he is a good CK, CK would push him to a really good kicker:
--) example: a RL-friend bought an AML 2 season ago, he set him FK/CK and penalty. At his first 10 games, he scored no FK (~25), he made a good amount of assists vom CK (I think, 8 of 30), he didn't score much - especially he didn't score from wide away (like SS). He decided to give him CK: the rest of the season he played 10 more games, made 14 assists.
last season: 44 games played, 41 assists.
this season: 18 games played, 15 assists.

2.) Key attributes matters:
I said a few times, I had PM, who kicked the corners. And they also did it... my "current" corner-kick-PM has high passing, crossing and creativity skills. He made average 25 assists/season.

BUT... on the other hand, Sperl made average also 25 assists/season, without that high % at passing, crossing and creativity.
And Costa... who has the highest % in my team... kicks good corner (SA=FK), but not that good like my the CK of my friend

3.) it's just a hidden "script", who performs good...
example: I sold Weigl this season. At his new club, he kicks all FK. I saw ~5 games and nearly every FK leads to a goal.
At this club, there's also a ST with FK. 2 times, Weigl was subed, so I saw the ST on FK... but he scored not a single one.

Sometimes I ask myself the same question about SAs. But one thing is certain: the treble monsters in my last 20 seasons or so all had a full squad of SA players. So, I am doing the same and the result is not too bad...

Token buyers often have stronger teams skillwise as well, that more than the SA correlation IMHO

That's a general rule of T11.
Better have than not :o

Never had players with SA for fk and ck,for many seasons i had vanBasten for both,almost all his fk's were goal and his record of assists is 74 in 1 season(half of them were from ck as for the last 4-5 seasons i cut him from ck's and he had around 35-40/season)
Now my ck specialist doesn't have SA but he's very good with over 40 assists/season,this season he has 17 assists in 15 games
For the 1st time i have fk specialist with SA ,his first matches,after i trained him fk SA, all his fk's were out of target,now,the last games he scored all his fk's,i must say that he's better than vanBasten 😉

I never train ck or fk I think it is useless. But I can't say the same when player is game generated and has the same auto assigned. Most times it seems that for those players internal code for sa works.

This is one more proof for me that the position of player kicking the corner plays its role.
You had more than one st in your formation, so if one kicks the corner the other is in the penalty area. Behavior is different when your st-ck kicker is the only striker.

For me it seems that position plays a more important role than sa. 1 more corner kick assist from my wing back today!

In my opinion, players have a hidden algorithm that refreshes every season, how many goals and how many assisst they can make on certain competitions.

Very good point, I never pay attention on that. I might not playing longer than you all but I always make fk, ck etc sa for my players and they are not doing bad. as nash123 says,

one of my club use 3-1-4-1-1, some time 3-1-4-2, 4-1-4-1 and you can see the screenshot about his assist: [name is Jordens van der Plas]

other 2 ck players [Yohan Andonian, Jorge Garrido] mostly play as mr/amr, I use them as ST when I use 4-4-2 ND; but I'll keep eye now to find more data about your point :)

I think the struggles of strikers with corners are due to two things:

1. As seen in the screenshot of the player above, crossing is a gray stat on strikers; meaning its useless to the play the position effectively. So the game has a paradox where the better a strikers crossing, the worse the performance of the striker.

2. The skills and physical ability of the player on the end of the cross matter. I think (not entirely sure) that skills like positioning, heading and strength are key to converting good crosses into goals. A good cross is great, but if the players in the box, lack the ability to convert a good cross into a goal, its just a wasted opportunity. So a good CK specialist, is more reliant upon his teammates than a good FK specialist, that can go direct for goal himself.

1. Well my st that observe above is also a wing am so his corossing is not grey out.

2. Hm I cannot say I have observed the same. After so many seasons of playing still I did not receive a clear sign that individual skills play any role.

So at least my theory is that individual skill does not play any role in efficiency of a corner kick.
And one big proof for this, is that I had 2 seasons the exact same players.
Same ck player was top assister in one season, in second season where I observed the twist, he sent all the balls in the gap

1. Sorry about that, I didn't realize your ST played AML/AMR as well. My apologizes for making an assumption.

2. I'm confident that a correlation between player skill attributes and performance does exist; although some white skills might be more important than others. I understand that it doesn't guarantee victory, but what i've noticed is a frequency of blowouts against teams close in quality heavily favors me. When I get beat, its seldom by a wide margin, it's like 1-2 type matches. The 5-1 type games (including assoc) are heavily in my favor. I"m guessing what's happened is due to having superior white stats, when I'm outfoxed tactically, my players have enough quality to keep the match fairly close, providing me with an opportunity to adjust late before it's completely out of hand, and hopefully salvage something from the fixture.

Firstly I used 4 3 2(amc,amr) 1st, then 3w123w1. He plays in the AMC role.

let me share if this help somehow. My player George Best 2 season stat. I didnt assign a CK to him in level 27 in the next season level 28 i give him the CK and you can see the different in his assist. He got no SA bt i think his crossing skill help somehow. Today we won our cup quater with a single goal from his corner, just when we need it.

Now is regarding gray skill. My dl Drazen Tomasevic have a SA aerial. I can see the icon flashing when the ball is clear from oppo corner. He is the only player i have for aerial. That is good. That is what I am trying to spot.
When the ck kicker is the only striker in the game his assist corner ratio drops.

About skills...

One of my best ck kickers was once a DC without crossing enhanced and without sa.
I strongly believe that corellation of crossing skill with the corner is just a coincidence

Same pattern for me today.
Corner kick taken by a winf defender.
Scorer my sole striker (4-1-4-1 formation)

So if my striker was the one that kicked the corner, would anyone be in his boots in order to score?
Or it would be a corner kick with the ball ending in a wide gap in the penalty area?
