Is special ability doing anything in this game or it just cosmetic?

I don't think it worth the big number of set packs to get it or the auction war, I believe it's just a nice decoration.
It would be nice if the mangers with long experience share their opinions about that. Thanks! in advance :-)

It seems the SA is randomly activated.
I use SA playmaker, when this active (above the dot) they will make a goal. But its rarely, only 5 i see it in the last season.
For SA defender aerial header, more active when in corner situation (defense situation). But never activated when in attacking situation. Only can get those two SA, cause its so expensive hehe...

I forget, i have a dribler, but not using it. Cause always get tackled. I dont know what dribler for...

As I said previously, it's like wines: the difference you have to pay to get from good to fantastic is huge. Maybe SA does not add much to your player but I think it adds something. Is it worth the price ? Difficult to be sure. You may find obvious examples of failures (I had a PK specialist who missed 4 out of 5 and I never gave him the chance to have another attempt). But I had also FK specialists who were goal machines. Was it due to the SA, who knows ?

So I enquired about special abilities to top eleven support today, I asked about dribbler sa in particular bcus I've 3 of those in my starting Xi what they told me is that "A PLAYERS SPECIAL ABILITY IS ALWAYS ACTIVE 90mins OF THE MATCH" they also said that the special abilities boost certain skills in my case the dribbler ability boosts the dribbling and creativity of my player throughout the game even if it rarely displays in the live animation.

Freekick, Def Wall and Heading specialist.
These are the 3 SA's I find to be useful in the game.
See them activated usually and help in scoring and saving goals.

Not saying that you wont score any FK goals without SA, just that FK SA helps those without that inert talent (randomly given by Nordeus) to score more than they would.
Same goes for Def Wall and Heading.

Playmaker, dribbler, the GK SAs, etc, these ones....I rarely see them activated

I've seen all the SA icons been activated in live matches (except one x one both ST and GK) but it doesn't mean anything since you miss a lot with SA or score a lot without em.

But if we assume it's effective! How that work? maybe it's adding some points to the involved skill. 4 example CK add some skills to CROSSING and so on, this theory is so defective since you can give the CK SA to DC which his crossing skills deactivated and probably so low. and guess what! it's even working

I've read a lot of not so great stuff about the "Shadow Striker" SA but nevertheless gave it a try last season and my AMR (AML & AMC) scores since then every game at least once with the activated skill.

On the other hand my AML (ML & DML) to whom I gave also the same SA ist not performing as well as the AMR. They do have the same strength but I did not yet compared their skills. I guess the AML is maybe not scoring so much because his other positions aren't so fitting.
