    FCK season update:
Today I suffered the first against goals in the league. The malaysian manager of Kelantan FC (3rd in table before matchday) chose a new line-up to me: 4-DML-DMR-MC-MC-AMC-ST. I suspected a long ball counter tactics and tried to attack him through the middle and short passing with a 3N-DMC-4-AMC-ST.

I joined the match late (lunch time) and was behind, 0-1 (23.). My team seemed to have some problems to create chances, so I reacted tactically 3N-DMC-2N-3W-ST and went from normal to attacking mentality. The team created more chances now and Kelantan was forced to make fouls. Right before half-time he conceeded two freekicks and a penalty after he fouled AMR Clemens in the penalty area. Kunz converted it safely (44.). With this score both teams went into the ht break.

I hoped for a nice half and we created lots of chances, but out of nowhere with a counter Kelantan scored the lead again, 1-2 (57.). These counters were real trouble, so motivated the wingers defensively, but before I had finished the instructions Mosqueda was fouled and Clemens converted the FK (59.), 2-2. We continued the match with the the new tactics and made pressure. Kelantan did another foul in the penalty area, Kunz made it 3-2 from the point (76.). To avoid beeing countered again I substituted the AM wingers by DML, DMR (instructed it already before the 3-2). AMC Gürser used won of them and scored the final 4-2 from distance (79.).

So, this match was a tactical mess and the win was lucky (3 goals by standard situations). Maybe I chould have chosen a 4-1-2N-1-2 from the start. But anyway, good start into the league with 18 points and 26-2 goals after 6 matches.

In the CL FCK had yesterday trouble as well with our 4-5-1V against the 2nd in table, Paniowy, who fielded a 4-4-2. I was a very close match very close match, a 3-2 away win (Clemens involved in all 3 goals). So we lead with 9 points and 11-4 goals, Paniowy runs up with 6 points and 8-5 goals, the other two teams have each 1 point so far. Winning the group is important since in the cross group there waits a scouts buyer (not that this is a problem in general).

FC Mimonos 2-6 July Fourth League Round 6
    FC Mimonos 101.5 4-1-2-1-2 ND - July Fourth 107.5 3N-1-3W-1-2

The inclusion of FC Mimonos added a little bit of spice to our league this season as this was a team we played last season in the cup preliminaries so I was looking forward to the game against them the most this season because our encounters last time were interesting to say the least, especially this game today which had pretty much everything in it and goals came left, right and centre. We had to wait until 30 minutes for the first goal of the game after Mimonos looked the most likely to score it was Papaleo who benefited from Michu pass to put us infront, It was soon 2-0 again through Papaleo again with a solo effort this time and Papaleo seems to like scoring past FC Mimonos. However the home team are good on paper and are a 5* average team and they got a goal back from Nadohil.

The second half saw continous action from both teams battling hard to win this one I looked towards the subs bench for some replacements and the players who I decided to replace scored goals just before they came off, Mensah scored twice in 2 minutes which his second goal was a free-kick before Reid pulled one back for Mimonos and Michu followed up from a great pass from Papaleo, things got a bit ugly at the end, Hardy was fouled and had to be subbed with P.McNamara and Papaleo's free kick was saved but it went out for a corner which Miku crossed in for Zidane to make it 6-2 and Kurasov was injured for the home team near the end of the game, There was 2 more chances for July Fourth at the end with Papaleo and Zidane but they were squandered.

Goals: Papaleo (30,37) Nadohil (44) Mensah (63,64) Reid (69) Michu (70) Zidane (75) MOTM: Mensah.

Ivor Hardy got injured for 6 days... Not anymore.

Actually, I got only 12 players that I use in important matches, and 3 formations, narrow diamond, 4-5-1 V and 3-5-2 V. My AMC is also an AMR, so when I go V-Style, he just moves to the right flank and I swap an AML in for either my weaker striker or my weakest DC.

Thats nice, I did that during my 2nd and 3rd season. Now I just stick to the 4-4-2 formation (4-1-2-1-2 diamond, 4-4-2 classic or 4-1-4-1) and it seems to have a positive impact, both on their performance, moral & they score a heck more goals then they did with the 4-5-1 V and the 3W-2N-3W-1-2 formation. No injuries either, just a couple of yellow candy bars

Yesterday saw us maintain a winning start to the league by beating Devil 9 away, albeit with an unconvincing 1-0 win, the goal scored by Orlando Salas, but it could have been so much easier if our penalty specialist Sung-Hwan Ha didn't send his penalty to the moon in the second minute of the match. However, I will let him off as it was the first one he's missed in 3-4 seasons.

However, a better performance by the majority of the backup saw us beat Bendol Ngelip FC 3-1 in our CL match, the goals scored by Ivan Ormeno, Yoshiaki Toume and Isaac Jorgensen.

Yesterday also saw the signing of a new ST (at long last) called Kohoh Panji Arianto, an Indonesian Q43 23yo who is also an FK specialist and today, FINALLY, saw the signing of a new MR called Jose Ramirez Gussago, a Brazilin Q39 18yo who is vastly superior to Ormeno.

Only a DL replacement to consider and my team will be sorted for this season, though I will likely wait for the youth's to come through in 3 days time before doing anything else major. After that, I might do some power training on most of the squad to make them that little bit stronger for the season and possibly be fine for the season after.

Today's match is against Ricarclo FC, a team capable of scoring goals, but also of leaking goals as well. They play a strange formation, but I think I can see a weakness to exploit, so let's see if that works out well.

I made good experiences with 4-1-4-1 and 4-5-1V-style, but I am sure the system is listed in the counter formation thread.
