I came up against that formation when I played 4-5-1V formation. It's really annoying. He just countered your formation.
As for buying tokens, the game is free to play, don't expect to win everything just by making a donation to Nordeous.
I understand your frustration, as you spent money on your team to improve your chances of victory but there is more to it than player ratings.

3rd, I don't think its the formation fault. I tried almost all formations in 5 seasons. I posted here this time cos its directly 3 lost against the team much weaker than mine. Changing tactics did not help
these are ch.league games,i won 10-0 in an away game,then the same team beat me at my home 5-0)
there is a 15 goal difference in 2 matches..this is an online game so it has many bugs,dont be mad,just try to have fun

2-2 and 2-1...these scores are normal winning 10-0 and then losing 5-0 to the same team is not!
my friends contacted support for losing against weaker teams,they just told them to use a formation that would counter opponents formation...its your call mate,if you dont enjoy the game dont play it...thats what games are for,to have joy
for example the game need for speed pisses me off so bad,and i dont play it to keep my sanity
I changed my tactics hours before a league match and a cup match. I changed from 4-2-3-1 to 4-5-1V.
I lost to a far weaker side in my league and I lost 2-1 at home and away against the cup opponent.
Imagine my frustration as before this point I was unbeaten and got too cocky.
Your opponent had 3 strikers and was a threat down the wings, so he obviously went for the jugular. His attack is overwhelming.
All he had to defend against was your right winger and lone striker.
I'll bet that you went attack, whole pitch, short passing?
