No, only one time .

By having two old players who were retiring in the same season , a DC and a great AMR with ton of goals scored , it was the DC who have been choosen by the game engine to stay one more season .
So i think it is the number of appearance which is the number one condition to stay one more season.

From 33 > 34 and 34>35.
But he was the only old player of my team when I got that gift.
