I have a 19 year old 4* ML with dribbling ability. I started a new role MC for him but feels like its not worth the effort. as he was playing well in ML and probably I could have made him close to 5* ML with the form he had.
So is it worth creating new role or ability?

Depends on how much do you need the MC position. You should have at least 4 MCs in your squad.
have 5 MCs now but 2 of them are retiring after this season. but still feels like its better to buy new players then creating new role for them.
Not in my opinion, I have almost only single position players. Few games ago my DL was suspended, I played a DC as the DL for a game, it didn't really make a difference.
I usually do it after I have trained their base stats for quit a bit, this is for new signings. I usually don't assign a new position for them to train up to till at least after like 10 training sessions. But I do think it is worth it. I train them to become familiar in positions I imagine them being in during a match. For example, my AMLs and AMRs I usually train them to be AMC and ML/MR depending on where they are since I can imagine points in the game where they will need to operate or fall back into these positions. With my AMCs I train them to be ST and MC for similiar reasons. DCs are trained to be DL/DRs and my DMC is usually trained to be MC and AMC since I want him to be comfortable in all midfield positions and help with attack when the pressure is being put on the opponent.I think it's worth it, but I don't do it out the gate- not every player is meant for this. Watch how often their base stats raise, if it is not very often you can expect the same progress when trying to teach them another skill or a new position. But I usually work with younger players so I end up having 22/23 yos with 3 position masteries. Maybe I'm overthinking but my team is always solid in attack and defense and I believe this strategy has something to do with it.
I used to think having players capable of playing in multiple positions is useful. However, I've come to learn that multi-position players won't be as good as single positioned ones.Quote:

yah im having the same feeling. and while wasting training sessions for a new role on him others have gone up from 3*to4* and 4*-5* :/ so feels like a bad decision from my point of view. well you get to learn from bad decisions. he was my best assist player and now he is drunk on the reserve bench :'(Quote:

I typically just buy multi-position players though, as it's tough to train without them falling behind. I don't think you should have them set to learn the new position gradually (like as the season progresses), I think you need to use a bunch of greens to do intense training sessions, heal them back up, and then keep going, all in one sitting. Then they learn the new position quickly and then you can focus on improving their stars for the rest of the season.
