It's a game. Some things can be considered a simulation of the real life sport, others can't. I think the 3W defence should be weak, but obviously the way the engine works it is not. A real life back 3 must be able to shift to cover the wings when required, i.e it is somewhere between the 3W and 3N defence. That is a complicated thing to program, so they just simplify
