Delayed retirement

Is there any way to ensure that one of my players who is supposed to retire at the end of this season will get to play one more season? I have 3 players in this situation and until now I got a confirmation only for one of them that he was convinced to play one more season. I had the same situation in the past and only some players got one more season to play. In any case ,I didn’t had a choice .
