when you let a contract expire, when you resign the player, does he get a signing bonus? right now my player has 1 year left and wants 11K/seasin plus $58K. I dont want to pay the 58K.

But let a contract expire is not the smartest thing to do, you better sell him before that will happen.

I was told that it is better to wait for the contract to expire, then sign him as its the best option for $$$ and time of contract. I want the player, but am trying to get out of the signing bonus.

Afraid you can't get out of paying the bonus, It is the players "signing on fee" (10% of his value) just as in real life.

from what i understand but not sure about signing on fee if you let contract run out he`l only sign a 2 year contract not a 3 year contract so which do you want : ?

If you let a contract expire the player is at the next season in your rooste as an unasigned player. You have a couple of days to offer him a new one (money + wage). That is how to use the full 3 years (+ you want to extend) of contract efficiently.

Yes, thank you, I am aware of this, all I want to know is if it is possible to get away with not paying the signing fee or bonus. From what people have been saying, there is no way out of the signing fee.

The only possible way out of the signing fee is to let the contract run out and then sign him back up. It may or may not work, but you definitely have to pay the fee if you sign the contract now. If nothing else, this will reduce the signing fee because the player's value will be reduced. There is no difference to the length of the contract whenever you sign it. My one question is, do his previous skill points carry over after his contract runs out and you offer him a brand new one at the start of next season?
