2nd in league second in cup semi finals for CL in second ever season so not too bad. 28 goals by my star AMR not enough for golden boot missed by one goal. Scored 90 goals in 26 league matches partly due to a strong finish. After being eliminated in the CL, The Blues were frustrated and thumped their remaining 3 league opponents 7-1, 6-2 and 8-0
Desert Rats FC let rip for their last three matches as they had the League title in the bag with those three matches to go. With a Quarter-Final exit in the Champions League and their Cup run ending at the Round of 16, only one piece of silverware this season.
Winger Thomas Arvehed continued on from his good first season with the Rats and made a bright start to this one, then a mid-season injury set him back a bit, but he started banging in the goals in the last week and ended up with the League Golden Boot - or at least, a share of one...
...and with a performance like that, it was not surprising that he was Player of the Season.
Nouvion FC's season went from promising to mediocre, failing to get one trophy to add to their display cabinet. Their only real chance came in the Champions League and they conceded a horrible late goal in the Final to deny them even that. A super-competitive League and typically nonsensical Nordeus results combined to condemn them to 5th place in the League and a first try-out of the Super League next season. Cup progress was good until the Semi-Final, when two 0-1 defeats saw them kicked out at that stage.
As would be expected, with poor Leaague results came a poor performance in the Top Player tables. Striker Yala Johnson featured early, but an injury knocked him out of the running, then after a quiet start to his Nouvion career, new utility Attacking Midfielder Marcus Aguilar produced a late rally to creep onto the bottom step of the Golden Boot competition.
A record of 46 goals in 46 matches meant that there really was only one player in the running for Player of the Season:
The Nouvion FC fans were dismayed to hear that on the last day of the season, long-serving right winger Gary Sampson departed the club, in his seven seasons with Nouvion he made 252 appearances, with 265 goals, 76 assists and was Man-of-the-Match 65 times.
