The Reasons Top Eleven is Terrible.

I have decided that I will stop Top Eleven at the end of the season because it isn't fun anymore and the efforts invested in the game aren't worth it. My reasons are as follow:

+ Buying/selling player is tedious. Each season, you have to sell older players because they can’t keep up.

+ Applying tactics is ineffective: This is football manager game, so if you come up with great strategies you will win, right? Wrong. Players and the game engine are everything. Tactics have very little impact. The wide-known system of counter formation means players could just use the counter system to win, so Nordeus reduces the effect of tactics and increases the effect of luck. This makes people buy tokens in the hope of winning.

+ Watching the match has no effect: Giving yourself 8% more possession, then what? You have more chances to score? Nope. You replace the guys who are not playing well to help your team? – Useless. Opponent manager doesn’t show up, no problem, his team still wins.

+ Tactical commands are unresponsive. Change tactics to attacking both flanks, we don’t see more crosses, we changes tactics to offside traps, we see no offside, we change tactics to long passing, our players continue with short passes, play hard defending, you get scored on a counter.

+ Training player is annoying. This action is so simple, you just need a lot of green packs, pump skill points into 2/3 skill sets. Every player is almost the same, except their age and training speed.

+ Most skills are pointless – corner taking, defensive wall, aerial defender and freekick specialist. The rest rarely impact the game.

+ Achievements are meaningless - winning the trebles 5 times, I cannot seriously say that I earned them. Yes, I always formed a solid squad that, due to their age, would quickly outpace the competition in terms of quality. However, given the troll results and the randomness, every most of the defeats have felt like the game made me lose rather than the opponent defeated me. Naturally, I have also encountered the opposite, where my team was maybe 3-5% stronger and I destroyed the other team in what was, obviously, a troll. So if the engine fixes matches by causing one team to significantly under perform in order to favor another team, what is the point? How can you be certain that you defeated the opponent rather than the engine just made them lose.

Conclusion about the game:

Positives

+ Fun when you think the game is skill based and you just need to improve.

Negatives

- poor management and match simulation (these make the game unrealistic)
- poor tactics (the effect of tactics is limited and tactical changes rarely affect the match (when changing orders or tactics, the response is random rather directed, assuming you even get a response)
- poor match engine (In some games, players do not perform according to their quality or tactics. They get red carded immediately (within ‘5 of the game), pass the ball to the opponent in the penalty area, don’t run, miss shots multiple times that they would put away in any other game, etc. No matter what you do, the team performs poorly and you lose or draw)
- too many troll results (team draws or loses despite having significant quality advantage and used decent counter formation and orders)
- users are able to game the system (manipulating the cup and league draws by selling high quality players at the end of the season and buying low quality players; create multiple accounts to funnel tokens to the main account)
- assistant manager comments are idiotic and inaccurate (assistant manager says it was tough but your team were underdogs when you your team quality was 25%+ higher - Nordeus needs to learn how to count)
- zealotry of certain users (some users continuously try to justify or explain results, even when it is very obvious that the game engine disadvantaged the stronger team. They draw parallels to reality when there are none to be had).
- developers constantly ignore the issues raised by users
- poor user support (I have reached out at least 20 times and never got a satisfactory resolution)

You have some good points there but I 'm curious
I 'm playing the game from 2014 but the last two years I 'm inactive in official competitions.
Just playing with old friends the FA games, some events and spending some time in the forum or TE facebook.

You 're playing only one year but the game has those issues two years now.
It's nothing new.

I think that's probably the only realistic thing in the game. Players age - they slow down, they lose their flexibility, they are more susceptible to injury. Younger, fitter, more agile players come in, they replace the older ones. The 'middle aged' players are useful on the bench for injury substitution, but you will eventually need to get rid of the older ones sometime...

Lucian, for sure, take a break if the game has become a big pain. I quit many times, and I also posted reasons why I quit. Forum admins might have done their job of collecting and sending feedback, but it seems that in some areas, the problem is with the company itself. It seems either they know about some very undesirable things but they have other priorities or that the feedback of the forum weighs less or they do not care much. Some negative things have been in this game for many years but nothing seemed to have improved in those areas, which is very surprising given the amount of complaints and suggestions forum users posted. But instead, some areas seem to have worsen, and you will notice that even the admins do not reply to posts related to those undesirable things, which could be indication that they know about the problem but also about the company's priorities or objectives. There are also those examples of bad marketing (scammed-liked sales and offers) like the one recently I posted and asked questions, which is even more surprising because someone will expect Nordeus as business company to make sales or provide offers where both sides gain but not where the customer is the big loser, up to the point where it can be said that he got scammed.

It might have got even worse given the measures the company took supposedly against mutants. I feel that it might be harder (cost-wise but also training-wise) to keep young players to the standard quality after promoting to the next level. Another reason why there could be more tankers.

In every single match. And I lost the game 9 times. Only after using 85 tokets did I beat him we have the same %

Have you ever considered your tactic is not the best or you train or buy the wrong players?

Why does it happen to you and not with others? I just beated a 135% guy with my 115% team but in the past the same your saying here happened to me, but instead of blaming the game you have to try and understand it, there is lots of info arround and very experienced and helpfull players

This made me laugh. There is always one person to blame the manager rather than acknowledge a very real issue in the game. If my calculations are correct, Lucian wins 87% of the games, including against other top managers, loses on average 2.5 games a season but his/her tactics, especially against abandoned teams, are the problem... right (rolls eyes). I have the same issue as Lucian despite a win rate of 91%.

With people who blatantly deny reality, why would Nordeus address the issue.

I agree with you on so many levels and it has me questioning whether I should continue the game as well.

With 130+ about trolls and multiple polls showing users hating this, the game has not been improved. Indeed, as you correctly pointed out, every update is a slap in the face of users. Every Nordeus update is worse for users but better for monetization. The support in game is useless and automatized. Meanwhile administrators casually ignore the issues players have with the game.

I joined with a group of friends and all have left the game because they criticized it for being pay to win (i.e. if you want to not have your season ruined by a troll, you have to sell 50% of your team and spend tokens so you are at least 25-30% stronger than the next competitor in order to minimize the impact of the 4-8 trolls you will inevitably encounter) and false advertising (they thought it would be a management game but with the degree of randomness during certain games, they felt disenfranchised). At first, I thought that moral boosters were the remedy to prevent a team from suddenly performing poorly, but unfortunately, this is not the case. A team that has a much higher quality, is managed, with all bonuses, full moral and health, will still risk losing to a team that isn't managed, doesn't have a proper formation and no bonuses. In such scenarios, it is impossible to be honest and argue against the facts.

It got much worse in the last 4-5 seasons. Usually, I would lose 1 game and draw 2. Now, I am losing 3 and drawing 4. Also, these losses are coming against teams that are much weaker and/or abandoned.

The real problem is that during certain games, the game makes you lose rather than the manager losing. By removing the agency of the manager these games, Nordeus manipulates the player, thereby violating the basic premise on which the game is being advertised: management.

All those are reasons why I wanted to quit the game this summer, yet I'm still back for this season because of all the nice people I met with Top Eleven really. And there is next to none better football management game out there which is not pay to win.
It bothers me, that you can't really play the game competitively in a sense, where you just outsmart your opponent by strategy, tactics, planning and so on. An unusual result can appear behind every corner.

For me the way I play this game is just casually leaning back and try to enjoy it as much as possible... That means no spending on the game at all and also not put too much time in it, as it would probably only disappoint me then when I lose against people who don't.
If that's what Top Eleven developers wanted then yes. I think they earn their money with new players (if I take a look down at low levels on my server, there are so many 8 star teams and so on) or some hardcore players to an extent.

I think that sums it up nicely:

You can't really be competitive (i.e. be a trophy hunter) because winning trophies depends in large part on luck (i.e. not getting a troll - i've been trolled 6 times in finals).
You can only play casually (i.e. put maybe 10 min a day) because otherwise, you will be disappointed when the engine makes you lose.

Unfortunately I am both. I want a game I can outsmart the opposition and think tactically, not hope the match engine works properly.

Time to return to Football Manager!

I read some reviews and it looks like the same as Top Eleven. Pay to win with an element of randomness to spice it up.

Being able to pause the game and not play for a month or so would be helpful, especially for those who end up getting frustrated.

Yes because at some point you just think about is your time worth it. And it would absolutely be worth it if there was a certain path to somehow guarantee me success, if I wanted to put in a reasonable amount of time and effort. But with Top Eleven there just isn't imo.
Of course there is stuff like manipulating draws but even then, no guarantee and also quite pointless to play against inactive teams. I abandoned my second club where I did this method.

Also stuff like training, upselling and farming greens, which would probably make you quite succesful is not a fun thing to do. Why would I play a game to not have fun and do boring, repetitive things all the time? It's wasted time there again.
So for me there is only one way to play the game and that's casual.

Btw: If you are german I know another good manager game but it's like I said only german and no app for mobile devices.

i've played 39 matches so far this season of which i have won 32,23 of those wins are in the league ( 49 winning streak in league) only been beaten in 3 yet two of the defeats have seen me out of both CL and LC one of who was a clear tanker and obviously wanted to win a cup, other was a team 30% less than me in both games i seem to have no control of either result no matter what did over the 4 legs of the games it was just sit back and see what excuse the game engine could come up with

This is exactly the problem. During certain pre-determined games, you can only sit back and see how the engine makes you lose.

Eliminated in the Champions League but at least it was against a team of similar quality and not a troll. 1-2, 3-2.Pity I lost on the away goal when my striker was given a red card in the first game on the 2nd min. Also, the 4-5-1V counter to 4-1-3W-2 did not work very well. My defenders were useless.

There are no counter formations in the game anymore, not the obvious ones that were here in the past. This season I changed to a 3-1-4-1-1 with 3 DCs and surprisingly did very well with it, whereas people always said you desparately need wingers in your team as they are the best players.
I played 4-5-1 V as my main formation for years really and I would always agree on all of that, it's why I never really thought about changing it up.

I could see in the King of the Hill event, where you play the same opponents, probably with the same tactics and formation, multiple times, that I seem to do better against some teams than others on average. And against these where I didn't do to well, I tried other tactics and still didn't do well. So I don't really know, maybe formations are a thing, but if so, then not in a logic kind of way (my 3 DC formation does really well against 4-2-3-1 for example, which is strange as I don't have any wing backs) but more in a rock, paper, scissors kind of way.

bigest problem here is that nordeus must ,once for all, decide is this is real life situation game or luck game
It cant be after trol match- big teams lost vs weak teams in real life, but after pointing on negotiations in last week instead first, goalies taking corners without any fear of counter, heavy injures that can be healed betwen matches, and young players loosing quality every season instead growth etc etc answer is- it´s just a game
If it is luck game i rather play casino games,if it is manager game than allow me to manage, dont expect me to embrace fact that team without manager, training,spectators and with low quality and morale beat me and assistant nailed with comment - it just wasnt to be

I posted in several posts in the forum how Nordeus could resolve most of the issues most of us have with the game which is practically the same issues. the game needs to undergo a very thorough overhaul. the concept of the game is good the structure stinks. They keep saying they try to simulate the real game but that could not be further form the truth. There are a lot more negatives than the ones mentioned. For example, where in the universe does a team play two or even more matches per day? nowhere ever! this needs to be changed, this is another reason why we cannot properly train, and rest the team before another match. Matches can not be played veer at ungodly hours such as 2-3-4-5 AM. this needs to change, we should not play teams in time zones 14 hours away, and the limit should be 6 hours + or- also the structure of the leagues and CL and Cup need changes. The Leagues should be structured as 6 promotional leagues, where the first four placements promote for example one starts in league 6 or F, and if they place first, second, third, and fourth they promote to league 5 or E, and so on until you reach League 1 or A. The last four of each are relegated to the lower league for example from 5 to 6 from 1 to 2 etc. The teams that promote DO NOT LOSE % but stay the same. only the ones that are relegated lose the 20% teams who do well should not be punished for doing well in fact they ought to be rewarded which brings me to the rewards for placements and winning leagues CL and Cups. TOKENS and BOOSTERS. In addition, as in the real game ONLY the first three in the 1 or A league qualify for the CL the 4th to 7th placement for the Cup. Winners of the competitions also should get TOKENS and BOOSTERS in addition to the money prize and trophy. The teams that reach the 1 or A league stay there as well as all those in the other ones that do not promote and relegate. This will aid managers to rebuild and improve their teams not to demote and lose the 20% or to promote to win the rewards and compete for a real objective which is reaching the top league. This system would prevent most managers from tanking because there would be no need to do so and there would actually be more incentive to do better and perhaps even invest in a game where things are more rewarding, all the other programming issues mentioned here however need to be fixed once and for all, but even if these programming issues persist but they reprogram the game to be as I said it would still be a lot more fun to play and much more rewarding, then we probably would not complain as much about them. If we had a better shot at doing better and have better rewards for success then maybe we could overlook some other discrepancies. although I still think the things mentioned ought to be fixed absolutely. Indeed all the things mentioned that are wrong are indeed very wrong. It does make me laugh in a way, for example, how can a player with 150% creativity be so boring and do the same things over and over, with no fantasy at all? Once in a great while, you see some different plays that actually leave you surprised, for example lately I have seen many more attempts of some players doing lobs over the GK to score however true that players miss way too much and do the most incredulous things that make no sense. I agree they do things that are caused by the programming on purpose such as stopping in front of the ball when they would have simply kicked it and most likely scored. I saw GK come out in the box and stop and stay still like a statue and get scored on. It's insane
