Games scheduled too close to each other

Hello fellow forumers,

I noticed since the start of the new season my games are grouped together in quick succession:
Most of the days the games have 3 hours between them.
On 5 of 8 days with two games scheduled (6 UCL group games and 2 Cup games), the games are 3 hours apart, for the rest it's 4 and 5 hours respectively.

It did not happen to me in the previous seasons, I usually had 8-9 hours between games, by default, I now have to spend tokens to change the time when I can, otherwise it is not easy to prepare the team between games with all the greens and blues required and no automatic 6% condition gains!

Anyone else experiencing this aggressive scheduling behavior?

Not trying to be mean but if you have 99% condition on the first game and you use low pressing you get 79% condition plus another 6% from the 3 hours thing in training, that s 85% condition. It s more than enough, trust me.

50% is enough for game. It does not make any difference in to your perfomance.

Parshul, the schedule of matches depend on both your time zone and other managers’.

In theory, it could be best if your opponent is living in a +/-12 hours timezone from yours (eg. UK and Aus), so when the game schedule for you to have an early game against someone else could be followed by his/her early game, which would be a late game for you.

The ‘worst’ is to having a similar time zone with both sets of opponents on the same matchday. The game engine has to be fair to try scheduling a game for the convenience (or similarly both a relatively unwelcomed time in the small hours) for both managers. Best is for games to be at least some 9 hours apart, but that cannot be guaranteed as for fairness over a home and away game tie (CL or Cup), there should be an early and late game each for us and the opponent.

Except the final day of a season when a super cup game is always added randomly and ignores the general ‘rule’ of having 3 hours between matches, there should always be a 6% recovery as a minimum. Obviously, dropping from max for some 20% then recovering only 6% will only bring it back to mid-80s. Most likely those players may not perform well for another full 90 minutes, but they should for another 45 minutes. And that’s why we have 17 subs and reserves. Isn’t it?

In real football week (vs a matchday in game), most managers have to sub at least half of regulars, or even 8-9 regulars for a midweek match, and only call on their best player for the last 30 minutes to chase a result if the reserves couldn’t finish the job. That kind of reflects what we need to do in football management (only exception is we want to play our first-11 in every single minute without sub :p ).

In this game you can play with the same 11 for the full season, as Helsinki said even 40-50 condition is sufficient to win.
Watch the Liverpool games and see that the main core of the team plays evert 3-4 days.

@SuperDunk You are right there we could win with conditions as low as 40-50%, as long as we are heavy favourites of a tie.

Not sure anyone has tested it, but I would tend to believe that dropping to a certain level of conditions would equal to an drop of quality of a player. Eg. 80%+ means full quality of the player (hence in green), 50%-80% conditions means somewhat 70%-90% quality, 30%-50% conditions means 50%-70% quality, and under 30% conditions means player may only play as half or worse as his maximum potential in quality. This could also explain why when we put it an excellent sub, or a first-11 as sub, in around the 60th minute, then that player tends to score a brace or even hat-trick within a short space of time.

Like all other managers, I also always play my best players for as long as possible for both their performance and motm improvement.

The difference is I would not spend 11 greens onto all first-11 to recover all to max conditions for the 2nd match of a day. Mostly I would use 4 greens to keep my best 4 players at max conditions and they will play for the full match (last match of the day, so no need to worry about preparing for next), 3 mid-high 80s% conditions to play full game and the lower 80+ conditions either play first half or come on as subs in around 60th minute, depending on opponents. They should all have around 70% by the end of 2nd match, and should be back to full the next matchday. GK normally would not require greens even when match is on high pressing.

The last thing that a manager needs is to exhaust most first-11 to 50% after 2 matches, then have to put in 2 or even 3 greens for each of them for the next day when fighting in a must-win cup tie.

This is how I would save greens when game-time for the worst few of first-11 could be sacrificed. There is no random factor in play here.

Doesn t the game rest your player 8x6=48% everyday? So -40% from 2 games and 48% rest means its an endless cycle.
So i really don t see the point in giving rests to any of my players.They are always 80+

Yes, the regeneration cycle is 48% everyday.

For player and team bonus to max 10%, a minimum of 2 x 4.5% (6 very easy drills) training run would be needed, and trained with ads (other thread has explained it well). 9% spent.

If we use low pressing and zonal every game for around 20% loss in conditions each game, then conditions should always stay around max after a 1-day cycle.

However, there are always some tight games (us and opponent are only a few % apart, or even superior to us) that are must-wins, say a CL or Cup knockout round, that we would need to adjust to high pressing (to chase a goal) or man-marking (to try to prevent a goal against). We would need to then recover our first-11 by greens.

And needless to say, for association matches that we need to win (say a 8-8 points asso draw in the first tie, then we had to play a match before losing conditions for 2nd tie), then may need to use greens as well. Asso mates would be furious that we would lose a tie by a late goal in not using a few greens to recover properly (although we will never admit it and just blame on bad luck if it happens :p )

I have previously experienced this, it is nothing new,

But I have had worse, I had 2 competition matches 25 minutes apart from each other. This was because I had to play the Super Cup match since I had won the Champions League and I played the league game and won both, then the next season, it was 8 hours apart and I won all 4 games in the 2 seasons.

I am not sure why it happens, maybe to for you to from up rests.

When your starters are 85% and you're going against a team that's stronger on paper and had more time to rest so their players are at 99%, it isn't enough. That's the problem I experience. Everytime my schedule is congested it's always full of important, season-defining, games lol

Doesn't really apply.
1. Sometimes the 3 hours between games don't mean there will be any 6% increase, from what I've noticed, if the 6% gain is too close to the game time, it will be added after the end of the match.
2. A 50% to 85% might work in theory against weaker opponents, but this is not the case for me, for a number of reasons:

-it would work for lower quality opponents, and every few seasons I lower my team quality to rig the draw, but this I don't do each season, as it is making the game more boring;
-my opponents (level 58) are grouped in a 85-99% quality bracket, with my main 4 or 5 opponents at the 99 upper limit, which is also my quality atm. Opponents are mostly active and improving, even the lower quality ones, and since this is the season's beginning, I expect team improvements on their side.

This means most of the matches are against ready and active players and I wouldn't go with having my team not ready, especially since I am going for the 5th consecutive CL title and 4th consecutive Treble+SuperCup.

I do squad rotation and have a decent team, of course with some improvements needed and limited resources and I tend to keep my well performing players for as long as possible, albeit as substitutes.
But the squad rotation is mainly done for preservation of greens and considering my though matches, it happens in non-key possitions: MCs, GK, DL or DR depending on opponent.

So yeah: I can go with 50-85% condition, but no, I will not. I'll just reschedule the damn matches for now.

With your points:

1. A 6% recovery will always happen between our first and second matches (Eg. If the first game is at 6.10pm, and recovery time is between 6.08pm to 6.25pm, then the 6% conditions will be added after the first game - which I consider this being in our favour when we can prepare players to max before matches and get 6% recovery before our next game)

2. As you mentioned, squad rotation is very important when it comes to saving greens. It all depends on how many key players you wish to keep playing every minute and what your bench quality has to be in being competitive.

With 2 games every day and looking to save greens, usually our weaker team with as many as 7 bench players, will handle most minutes of the easier game. The easier game is mainly league game, and sometimes could be CL group game which we can afford to win by smaller margins or Cup/CL 2nd leg which we can afford to win small or even draw when we have already got a healthy first leg win.

Regulars will handle the more difficult game, and play as many minutes as possible without exhausting conditions that will impact recovery for the following day’s matches.

3. Any player with less than 90% conditions should not feature in the more difficult game, assuming the opponent is good enough to beat us. For weaker opponents who we should win comfortably, I may play the regulars for the first 60-75 minutes if they have 85%-89% conditions. Anything less than 85%, then the regulars will only come on as a sub, or I rather use a green to recover him to play the full game instead.

At least that shouldn’t end us up losing games because of the most basic things as conditions.

I think the condition comes in when you concede 2-3 goals in the last minutes of the game, but that also might depend in your changes of tactics, thus allowing the opponent to take advantage of that.
I still think 80+ condition is enough for every game, even against a 99 condition opponent, but that is not that common, because most of the inactive accounts have 99 condition every game and they still lose, and the active managers who play on all fronts, your main opponents do the same thing as you and play 2 games per day. If I were to lose, conditions couldn’t be apportioned any blame because they would have been 90%+.

Different managers look at and handle this issue differently. Some may prefer to optimise the savings of greens, hence being more willing to start games with players of just around 90% or even less. With a strong advantage over opponents, probably 90% or even 95% of the time the slight disadvantage of conditions would not matter as quality rules.

If we view a very bad roll of dice combination in an actual term of ‘-30% of our player quality throughout the whole game’ plus ‘+30% of opponent players quality throughout the whole game’ (no proof there, but more than likely there should be 2 dices, with each for 1 team - if there is only 1 dice, shock results should be a lot more frequent), then another -10% negative conditions against opponent’s could actually mean our quality advantage could go from 60%+ to neutral in most of the game or even to negative territory in the final 15-30 minutes.

It’s also very common that a favourite team would score very heavily in the last 20 minutes of a game, especially so if we could afford to use high pressing+man-marking in the second half and using low pressing+zonal in the first half.

99% conditions of opponents means very little for inactive managers because their static team could not be suited to 2 varying tactics:

1) if they are set as high pressing/man-mark throughout the game (which can be told from where they take throw-ins and if they keep a distance from our ball-holding player), their conditions would be worse than us in around 46th to 68th minute of the game when we started to high-press them. Put on 3 80%+ subs in midfield around the 65th minute will rule the midfield as opponents all tired

2) if they set as low pressing/zonal throughout the game, then this opponent is a piece of cake as high-press+hard attacking in the 2nd half will make an inferior opposition keep losing possession in their own half. We just need to keep ST/AMs if they score, or sub them if they keep misfiring. A matter of time.

Yes I face this too and I feel they do this on purpose to force us to watch videos for greens. I watch the videos anyway but I am forced to use them. I got so sick of wasting my greens that I now have a full 2nd team that plays whichever team is weaker for the day. Only on days where both matches are crucial do I play my first team twice.

Yes, opponent tactics would be revealed within the animations, and quite clearly.

Say zonal vs man-marking.

When it is zonal, we can see the marking defender is only keeping a distance from the ball-holding player and not attempting to move very close to the attacker. His job is kind of doing the minimum (saving energy) to ‘just to be there’ as a nuisance. Other defenders will form a stable shape to take the best positions to clear possible crosses.

Upside: Conditions saving. And also better team shape to avoid through-balls if general defence is better than opponent’s attack by a margin of at least 10%
Downside: Defenders will allow more space for anyone to shoot, and especially vulnerable with long shots from AMs when there is no DMC or less DMC vs AMCs
Perfect counter: AMR/AML/AMC (even better with shadow striker SA) will be having a field day because the opponents are not actively closing in to tackle, and so should go for attacking or hard attacking, with more AMs than opponents’ DM to win by scoring from range. Even better if we can sub in good AMs after 60th minute to take advantage of conditions (90%+ vs 70%+ in the last 15 minutes).


When it is man-marking, the man-marking defender will move very close to the ball-holding attacker and consistently try to push the attacker away from doing his preferred attack (say he covers the angle from crosses coming in and force the attacker passing back). Other defenders will be tracking each attacker to close down on possible passing coming to them.

Upside: Equal or slightly weaker team’s defenders will be able to match their attackers most of the time. Attacker finds it easy to have moves broken down by tackles at early stage of attacking moves. Good crosses also cannot come in that easily.
Downside: Energy draining, which will pose a incurable problem on conditions deficit if attacking side knows this by earlier animation and switch to low pressing+zonal, then switch to high pressing+man-mark in 2nd half. Also vulnerable to creative and long-ball playing midfielders playing through-passes if attacking side has man-advantage in certain areas, say 3v2 on the flanks or 5v4 in the middle.
Perfect counter: Rather than wasting energy to press and create chances when it is hard, switch to low press, zonal, normal/defensive and short passing to build up play from our back. That will further drain the defenders conditions. Then switch to high press and long pass after 60th minute, put on 90%+ midfielders sub, and keep attacking. Defending side is now exhausted and will concede loads.

Long/short passing type should be easy to tell, so won’t need further illustration.
Generally, use offside trap to deal with long passing teams, or use offside trap with only 3 defenders (that means the 3 defenders have all to be top quality) having very good ‘positioning’ attributes can also stop counter attacks.
Short passing means a very high, usually 85%+, passing success rate. Those teams are easiest to deal with as high pressing + hard attacking means they will usually lose possession in their own half, and they do not pose much attacking threat with little long balls.
Mixed is the hardest to deal with as it needs the most caution of ours.

And that’s why I said inactive managers are the easiest to be dealt with, because they won’t change pressing type or zonal/man-marking type during games. Either they tire out to lose in 2nd half (we use only change to high pressing in 2nd half when they use high press the whole game), or they will lose because they don’t mark properly (AMs will score a lot with space).

What do you mean? I only said I feel they put matches close to each other to pressure us into watching video for greens. And I explained that I did not want to waste my greens so I started a second team to play one of the matches. Why do you sound so aggressive? I am not out here for an argument

@Sillybq That’s true. We need to watch ads to earn enough to recover regulars for important matches in a row, and save up for power training as well.

As much as I also dislike using greens to recover conditions for matches, I won’t view it as a ‘waste’. If we use 1 green to recover 1 of our regulars to play the 2nd game which takes place just 3-4 hours after the 1st game, the player should generally gain 1-2 skills points for playing the match. That is about the same amount of skill points gained when we use those same 16% to 20% for training drills when it comes to high-star players. Motm 4% is even more important, so for me, all best 3 or 4 players should start all matches even if greens are needed. (Typically for power-trained players, gaining 1% skill point may take a green, so 4% motm gain with only a green is a no-brainer, assuming that we can win the match and top players perform like they usually would ;p )

My 2nd team is typically 1* worse than 1st team. They have 3 main uses:
1) Save greens in closely-timed matches
2) Come in as sub when first-11 gets a yellow card. Usually at half-time if yellow was issued before half-time, and always immediately anytime in the 2nd half when yellow is received
3) Come in as starting players in Cup/CL semi-finals 2nd leg to prevent all previously yellow-carded regular players from possible suspension in the Cup/CL final when we have already secured a healthy 1st leg win

So i m not trying to start an argument here but i think i ve faced enough games with low and high conditions against tougher opponents to have my own version of the story.
Second of all, you said " I watch the videos anyway but I am forced to use them" you also said that you started to get sick wasting them and then bought another 11 to play the weaker teams.
And my question is this one: Why do you think i am aggresive and wanna start an argument? Because i am quoting literally the words you are saying?

I also realised for the last couple of seasons that the league game is fixed at a specific hour with the rest of the teams in the league.
CL and Cup games differ from the timezone you and your opponent have.

Long/short passing type should be easy to tell, so won’t need further illustration.
Generally, use offside trap to deal with long passing teams, or use offside trap with only 3 defenders (that means the 3 defenders have all to be top quality) having very good ‘positioning’ attributes can also stop counter attacks.
Short passing means a very high, usually 85%+, passing success rate. Those teams are easiest to deal with as high pressing + hard attacking means they will usually lose possession in their own half, and they do not pose much attacking threat with little long balls.
Mixed is the hardest to deal with as it needs the most caution of ours.

And that’s why I said inactive managers are the easiest to be dealt with, because they won’t change pressing type or zonal/man-marking type during games. Either they tire out to lose in 2nd half (we use only change to high pressing in 2nd half when they use high press the whole game), or they will lose because they don’t mark properly (AMs will score a lot with space).

Thanks for explaining this to me in detail, i usually didn t pay attention to the animations, they are dull and the same in most of the times.
Also i think that thing with the man-mark zonal is quite easy to spot, i used to score goals after long passes from my midfielder to my strikers when i ve played with short passes.
I also have a specific strategic when things go wrong, so i am not all that about countering things if for one i don t have enough players or don t have time to watch the game i am playing.

Firstly, how you want to play is up to you. I feel it is a waste to use greens when I feel my team is sufficiently strong after power training hence my response. How I play is up to me, I might play MTM and High Press to concede less and win by bigger margins. What has this have to do with our levels and our competition?

I never said you were wrong but you obviously think your opinion is the only correct one.

That s what i said what i said because on the lower levels you can get away with a lot of things.

I do not disagree with that. I have mentioned before that many Low level teams do not need to put in much effort to win. But i think it’s unrelated to why games are scheduled so close to each other.

As much as I also dislike using greens to recover conditions for matches, I won’t view it as a ‘waste’. 3) Come in as starting players in Cup/CL semi-finals 2nd leg to prevent all previously yellow-carded regular players from possible suspension in the Cup/CL final when we have already secured a healthy 1st leg win

Very true. I do most of what you mentioned and will probably add on what I am missing. Good info. For the MOM, I try to manipulate it so the players I am keeping for next season win it. So I mix my starters with my bench. But no player in my teams plays twice a day except on those days where both opponents are strong.

And i ve already given my opinion on why the games are scheduled close to each other and how you can get away without spending any greens to rest your players.
You, triple A and me have different opinions, everyone uses what works for them, i ve just given my probably very vast experience with lower conditions games and how it affects your game, used to play it so frequently on my main account on the lower levels, i didn t manipulate anything and i didn t bought tokens, i didn t had the experience of the game i have now, but i was close to the top most of the times, i used to place top 3 always in the league and in the higher rankings in CL but back then i used to play with higher rating opponents in the cup and was the trophy that seemed to be a ilussion for me since most of my opponents were much better than me.
I also have to mention that we didn t had the option to watch ads in my country back then.

I also have to mention that the last season my best 11 played 50 games or something very close to that, i didn t had fatigue issues or anything and my only bad result came in CL when i had 90+ condition and was favorite against the guy, so there s that also.

Mate, I always felt you were a good player and respect your opinions. But the engine could easily space out matches a little more but it doesn’t because it makes business sense to make us watch videos. That’s how I see it. I counter it using a second team. That’s all. Many ways of handling it. I don’t think your way is wrong either. I too have been unable to log in and played with a low condition team and won as well.

I think the games are scheduled so close together for using rests and trying to keep you active all the time and also to watch those ads, that is a reason I left as I mentioned it was a chore to do, Also, I finished inside the top 2 in all of the 22 seasons mentioned in my signature except for one where I finished 3rd. The Cup is where I encountered more problems although I reached 8 cup finals compared to my 5 CL Finals, I got knocked out around 5 times in the round of 16, once in the quarters and the rest the finals.

In the CL I Made the Semi Final twice every 3 seasons or so and I got knocked in the Semi Finals so often because of a stronger opponent, for a freeloader like myself, it was tough to get to a CL Final, let alone win 2 back to back, my last 3 seasons were very chilled and simple because I scored so many goals and did not allow too many in either.

So my opinion is what I said in the first line of the first paragraph.

It happened once to me, I had my super cup match at 18:36 which I won and then a league match at 19;01 so 25 minutes later, I won both? A month later I had the super cup match 8 hours after my final league match which I won and I won the other super cup.

To add to that, 25 minutes is quite lesbian to compared to someone having 16 minutes between the 2 matches which happened with one of my in game friends.
